Doubt that relay is being false fed, more likely the armature has seized or the normally open contacts have welded themselves closed like above comment. Simple fix :) Presume the heavy duty contactor is operating at the same time when you turn it on?
(still love my TIG!) Loved my MIG! Might have to re design that! If I could find a compression joiner for the gas pipe all I'd need is the liner and to join the wires for the trigger contact...but it's an excuse for a 4m one to be honest!
Just dropped a piece of steel plate through my lance :o:vsad:
Can anyone tell me what I need to get as a replacement? It's for a Murex Tradesmarc 181, lance and torch are quite recent unfortunately:mad:.
Thanks chaps
If you ever needed a reason why you should throw a donation to the forum this should be it, more information and clearer than many books & all in one place.
Well done chaps and thank you:clapping:
Bit more done! Needs adjustment as you may be able to see the bars going down aren't quite true and the welder doesn't fit at the bottom:whistle::ashamed:
:welder:
Small amount more done today....I'd welcome any comments on the welding. I feel its getting better but I'd love some feedback.
Making the shelf for the welder....
Yes shorten the pipe no problem, those clips are a ******...Vw like to use them and without the proper tool they are hard to get off without breaking, better off just loosing that clip and putting a pipe clip on there jubilee or equiv
Thanks Derek I've got a flow meter like the one you describe, and also one to check on the end of the torch. I've definitely noticed I can get away with using a lot less gas on steel though what effect it's having on the un-visible part of the weld I don't know.
16 hrs for a Y sized tank? I...
Just made a start on my trolley today, it's likely to take me a good month to complete as I don't seem to have much time these days but I made a start anyway:ashamed:
The plan is having a device so I can lock the welder onto the trolley and lock the trolley / chain it to a wall when not in...
Thanks guys, your right Woz sometimes thinking back to basics is what I need to do more of, of course the welding takes a lot longer good point!
The BOC bottle has been given to me by a friend so I will re start my BOC contract when that is spent and get a Y or larger sized cylinder and use...
I've been MIG welding for about 5 years and I can't believe the amount of Argon I'm getting through with the TIG welder :o
If this is the case I may have to give it up as a hobby as I've already spent £200 on gas since Christmas and that's just practising!
Would you say this is an excessive amount of gas to use? It's set to about 8lpm and checked with a flow meter on the end of the torch. Excuse my shoddy welding I'm practising/learning I just ran a few beads so I can show the gas usage:ashamed:
I then made a start on my welding...
I'm shocked at how bad this Corrado is, I've got a couple at my garage and neither are too bad, one is a 1990 16v and the other a 1994 VR6, both well used on the road. They seem to withstand corrosion quite well from my experience.
It's got to be worth saving they are such great cars...I...
If I welded for two hours I'd have used the bottle, I'll do a bit of practising tomorrow and take some photos of the regulator before and after and the length of the beads laid. I'm sure it's excessive probably just like Trev.
