Thanks for the recommendations.
I've opted for a pair from Screwfix (can't remember what sort) after a chance encounter with another brewer who has had his current pair for 3 years.
Hopefully they may do the job. If not they were only 30 quid.
Has anyone got any recommendations for a good quality work boot?
My current pair, 20 quid Dunlops, have lasted me less than 6 months. Beer kills boots!
Not keen on riggers, I prefer a boot I can lace up.
I'd been looking at the GYS welders because I have a local spot that sells them. I know nothing about them though. I'm assuming the quality is OK. They feel well enough built.
The title says it all.
I'm after a good solid reliable machine that will easily deal with Land Rover chassis work but also finer stuff when required - I'd just like some real world suggestions as to where to spend my money.
Thanks in advance :D
I acquired another lump of scrap for the pile. I had to pull the injectors on the other half's Mondeo but had no access to my tools so had to buy rather than make an aligning tool for refitting.
Sloppy fit, made of cheese and not up to the job. Worked round the issue but still narked at paying...
My mate is building a bigger shed.
In the old shed the electricity was supplied by an extension lead that hung out of the kitchen window, was tacked on to the wall of the house, has an overhead run of about 8 feet, fixes to a large wooden fence post and runs down to the shed.
He has decided to...
It has been an organic process so far. Just grabbing bits I liked the look of.
Possibly - the seat that I have was free and fits my bottom quite well. I'm trying to keep things as cheap as I can for the time being.
Things have stalled with this little project. A distinct lack of funds and motivation.
I have however decided to crack on and do what I can with the bits I have stashed in the shed.
Today saw me tickling the frame a little with the grinder. One to remove the current front mounts for the tank...
I agree very much with that statement. My 109 is noisy, draughty and agricultural. It is an experience to drive it. In the 10 months it's been back on the road it has needed a new starter motor and a couple of wiring jobs doing. A bit of investigation was required when the engine started making...
On a bit of tangent (and not strictly a garden shed type bloke) I stopped in to grab a bit of steel today and got chatting with Ray as I usually do. He showed me some very plain looking curved bits of steel with a little wedge welded on each end. They are the canopy hoops for a Spitfire. It's a...
Well, I've lobbed some K Seal in and it seems to have stopped the weeping. I'll just have to keep an eye on things and see if it has done what is says on the tin.
It's physical damage. There's a crack in the water pipe that runs to the heat exchanger. Caused by an eejit with a big hammer (not me I might add) The rest of the cooling system is either brand new or in good condition. I'll give it a whirl and see what happens.
I haven't explained myself very well regarding the leak. There is an internal plate heat exchanger that is the oil cooler. It's the water side of things that's leaking. No oily bits involved.
As the title says.
I have a very annoying weep from part of the cooling system on the Landy. There is a crack in a cast ally part of oil cooler. It has been holding up with copious amounts of JB Weld slapped on it but it's still weeping. It's not so much of an issue in the cold but when the...
My ex-MoD 109 2.25 petrol was my daily driver for 5 years or so. It was LPG converted, had a Stage 1 head and electronic ignition and overdrive. It ran like a sewing machine and reached the dizzy heights of 21mpg on a good long run. Ordinarily it would be high teens on normal day to day stuff...
I bet you can
I like the cut down look of a bobber and the nice clean looks of a cafe racer. I can't be doing with ape hangers (look enough of a monkey without) but with my back there's no way I can live with a set of clip ons...it will evolve I'm sure
