that is somewhat understandable, but what gets me is the fact they are meant to be there to repair things properly, whereas 9/10 they dont, leaving most customers unaware, for instance take either one of my cars, they both looked incredibly clean for mk1s, but the repairs made them worth hardly...
definitely feel the need to contribute here!
bot my mk1 clio 16v projects have bodged up welding repairs.
on my naples, at some point in its life it had a new offside rear quarter, the filler was about half inch thick all down the offside! the welds were just tack welds and then what appeared...
So folks, I've been getting used to the welder and its settings etc and I have noticed the 'stitch on/off' knobs don't do anything, IE when either is turned the machine doesn't stop on it's own as it should. I had a go on a tradesmig 130 a while ago and when the stitch weld(iirc) knob was...
Sorry I meant if I could get one locally and have it tested it would probably be a better option, But having thought about it and read around, to save hassle and money I could get one from somewhere, Just found that I can get a rent free cylinder, Multiple choice sizes mixes etc for a reasonable...
I've read about the HobbyWeld gasses, They seem good, Theres plenty of options out there it's just choosing the right one.
think my best option would be to acquire an empty cylinder and have it tested etc.
Very true that actually, I had that problem before, Bought a canister from Gumtree and was told I could have it filled anywhere, I took it to a place where they fill them and they confiscated it as apparently the person I bought it from had not paid the rent on it! I've inquired with BOC and...
Just wondering if the caravan type gas bottles could be refilled with argon co2? I can get a number of these bottles for next to nowt, if not for nowt. Anybody done it? Or does anybody know the rules for this type of stuff? I've only ever bought the ready filled canisters before so unsure how...
Well so far so good with the welder, Been using up the mini spool of 0.8 wire I had (not practicing or anything, purely just to use the wire and give the welder a little test), Getting good penetration etc and I'm sure it will only get better as it has a 1.0mm tip, 0.8 solid wire and no gas lol...
You'll laugh as well at how I got it going, Firstly, Dave guided me through testing etc (everything is bang on) then he guided me to wiring the welding supply, Then the rest I (kind of) figured out for myself, Remember how I had the fault of the contactor operating but no arc? Turns out the wire...
The welder is now fully working guys!
Thanks to all for your input, And special thanks to @eSCHEn for pointing me in the direction of @mike 109444 ! Mike, You were great. And @NotANormalCoder for his expertise via email!
Thanks again. (sorry I haven't tagged everybody who contributed their...
Making a bit of progress thanks to Dave (NotANormalCoder) :-)
Just a quick question too see if anyone on here may know as I understand Dave is a busy man, The wire to the fan (in my case wire no42) should this be linked to the neutral wire? (N is also a wire no42 but it is a heavy wire)
Hello.
I need a welder repairer to come and properly fit the contactor in my Murex Tradesmig 160, I am located in Shafton, Barnsley South Yorkshire.
Is there anybody on here who is capable of this and local to me?
If so please do get in touch as I am at the end of my tether with the thing...
Thanks for the reply, As far as I'm aware the contactor I have is suitable. Think I'm going to have to pay someone to look to be honest, the PCB had a lot of bad points which I have re-tracked but I'm unsure if anything else has gone kaplunk!
When the contactor pulls in (and stays in) the...
This welder is really getting on my nerves now, Either the contactor will pull in and release upon pressing the trigger, But gsv doesn't operate, OR the gsv operates but contactor won't pull in, or the gsv operates, the contactor pulls in but will not release! I now have a new multimeter, Is...
