Got this filled with oil (just used 4 stroke garden machinery oil) and have put around 5 litres of petrol through it. Mostly was hedging and willow trimmings that’s been sat around in piles. Also a load of buckthorn type stuff absolutely lethal!
Cracking bit of kit should have got one years...
I had some done by gsm graphic arts weren’t that expensive I think around £2.50 each and I only ordered around 100 of them mine were printed onto aluminium then coated don’t know the full process
They can help with the design process as well I sent them a design I came up with and they came up...
Recently ordered one and it came today. All put together just need some oil and then I can get chipping
Seems really solidly built easy to get to the blades to sharpen them. Welding on it is a bit rough though!
It was a while ago but have previously done these in fusion the top sheet metal part I managed to unfold to a 2d drawing pretty cool way of doing it
Interesting to hear that 2d and 3d doesn’t cross over! Definitely something to think about when looking at courses etc.
I’m hoping to head to...
Those chippings are an ecologists wet dream! Perfect for mice and many insects/bugs to live in and use as transit corridors. Will be using any we get to line base of new hedgerows.
Interesting thread. Got a Massive pile of hedge to shred (woody some of it upto 1.5” diameter maybe a bit bigger) and there’ll also be some more soon
was thinking of hiring one of the big tow behind they’re fairly reasonable from a local hire place for a weekend/week hire
Or would one of...
Thanks everyone. It will be sheet metal work mostly folded components and the need to create a flat dxf file
also box section framework adding holes and features and creating files so I can send these to a tube laser even if it’s just a full model and they can break it down for me.
The work I...
So even though I’m in my early 30s I’ve always stuck with pen and paper when designing a job/product etc
Increasingly the lasers want a proper dxf drawing. I’m also looking into getting a cnc turret punch at some point in the near future to automate some production and then maybe a cnc router...
How many do you need I could fold some on the Pressbrake easily enough I would just need to check clearances on the punch. Most places with a brake would fold them for the minimum charge plus material I suspect.
Slitting box will be alright for a small quantity set up plasma/saw/grinder with a...
My vote would be guillotine. Simply because it would annoy me having to deburr plasma edges constantly! If you have access to a laser I really couldn’t see the advantage to a plasma.
To me plasmas are great for prototyping and really small production but subcontracting to a firm with an auto...
Thanks everyone really helpful and lots to think about. Preference is something fully up together as I struggle with time and I will need ready asap. I believe he is finishing end of march!
Im finding increasingly companies/drivers want stuff forklifted off and no manual handling anymore. They...
Thanks all something to think about for sure. I am quite interested in my neighbours it’s a 1.8t three wheel electric hyster.
I know it’s been meticulously maintained hasn’t been overloaded or otherwise abused got a current loler cert on it
I could then do the batteries at a later date if I...
Hi all
Looking likely that I’ll need to be in the market for a forklift soon. I currently have my neighbour unload for me but he’s retiring and selling the business so this is no longer an option.
His forklift will be up for sale it’s done 300hrs and is electric however the batteries are...
Part of the reason for starting this thread was to share some of the fun and games I have running older machinery. Went to fold up some plates on Monday on the promecam and wouldn’t switch on  It’s been a bit intermittent recently anyway! Opened up the main electric cabinet to see the...
This is how the bench is looking. I haven’t done any sanding or painting/varnishing yet as it’s just too cold. Just got the top to sort out and have some folding shelf brackets to go on the end as a form of extension when cutting big sheets.
Not much to report bench above is pretty much finished I’ll get some upto date photos tomorrow.
Thought you’d all like to see this. Filter from fume extractor done 30hrs on it the alarm was sounding today so gave it a clean out quite shocking to see how much this picks up!
Wish I purchased...
This is front and back of a 5.5mm die that fits my iron worker so you can see what I mean. For reference these are about £12 each! Think generic Berger tools dies are not as much as that!
just to add one thing I don’t think has been mentioned if you do want to make your own dies have you added a taper relief to the back for the slug to fall out this will also make a difference.
