The company i work for (tight wads ltd) brought us all Esab G40 air-feds. Tried getting a couple of Navtech(?) air feds first and gave to the apprentices as the rest of us told them where to shove them.
The Esabs do the job Ok, only have passive lenses in if thats an issue to you (the thought of...
Hiya guys, am after a couple of hoods rather than Watsons to wear under my headshield, does anyone have a website or somewhere they could point me in the direction of??
Does anybody have a recommendation for a filter mask that fits under a kemppi beta 90p (the old shape one, not the new one). A mask with replaceable filters though, not a "use once" type.
Cheers
I use 80% of the time a protoshell standard flipup mask.
Use a 3m 6000series mask with filters the same as these in the pic without any problem, a nice snug fit, but fits all the same
Sitting out in the sun wont dry them.
Better off getting some new rods tbh.
Technically, they should be baked in a purpose made oven at 300-350°c for 2-3 hours. Even once a packet has been open for 8 hrs it will have absorbed enough moisture just from the air, that the deposit is no longer a...

The little spool? Its part of a stainless system for a chemical plant thats all, shampoo, detergents, washing powders and that sort of thing. The job had a few dairy gauge spools like the little one along with a few 4" sched 40, but mostly 8" sched 40 like this double elbow 2 into 1...
Another factor that plays into it is that when welding vertically up, the arc is consistently right at the front of the puddle ie the business end. Whereas when welding vertical down, the puddle constantly tries to run down in front of the arc, therefore the arc is in the puddle rather than in...
Some procedure testing from a few months back. The butt was Tig root/hot pass with elga P48S a hot running (115-150amps if I remember right?) deep penetrating 7018.
Used 3.2 for the first few passes then 4mm then back to 3.2s for the cap. Over 250 rods in total, around 12-14 hours worth lol. And...
Should be providing you with air fed lid, or at the very least competent filter masks, a clean fresh one every day. Doesnt matter a monkeys what your welding, therefore MSDS's etc dont even come into it
Vodex have been the "go to" 6013 rods for companies ive worked for for the last 10 years or so.
Apparently the welds have better mechanical properties than most 6013's? How much difference and in what way i dont know personally. But must be a reason they use them, as theyre not the cheapest...
Has its place, as said above.
Carbon or mild steels its not the best idea as porosity can be a pita, and duplex is a simple no (few reason, cant remember them all though of the top of my head lol)
One example where we dont use any filler on where i work, is dairy and food grade pipework. Most...
Did have a proper diamond disc wet grinder to use at work.
Since that went up the spout, its back to a 4.5" grinder with a partly worn 80grit flap disc. Angle the tungsten so the tiny grooves left spiral around the tip and it works just fine:thumbup:
Contacted one of the site moderators, and he helped me by doing a reset of my password for me, and letting me know that it might have been an update thing. He also mentioned to make sure that when i put the address in to open the site to not forget the https part of the address, as that can...
Anybody else having problems logging in using their username and password on Chrome browser?
Wont have none of it for me.
Can only login using the browser that is linked to Hotmail (inernet explorer i believe) when clicking the link to reset password on email from admin.
Your problem is more likely than anything else, excessive heat input caused by the amperage being too low and travelling too slowly. Try upping the amps a bit and travelling faster.
Have never tried welding copper, always fancied giving it a go but never got around to it.
May be miles out, but one thing im sure I remember from college though, was that for materials like aluminium and especially copper, which conduct heat as quickly as they do, using helium (or a helium mix)...
