Morning guys
I'm in the process of cleaning up my engine for my restoration project, and could do with a real good degreaser.
Anyone know which I should go for? Want it to be a spray on, rinse off type of gear!
Cheers
afternoon guys
I'm looking at buying some more Lechler epoxy primer for my resto project, and usually get it in black, but now I'm thinking it wouldn't hurt to tint it the colour my car will be. I've bought Raptor in tintable form for the underside too.
I'm sure it says use a solvent based...
evening
I've been hearing Nitromoors is a load of rubbish, but is there an alternative out there? I want something to penetrate a few layers in my engine bay.
What's your experiences?
Cheers
Instead of starting a whole new thread on practically the same question, could I epoxy and put my car together, use it for a few weeks, then come back and carry on with the filler, flattish and paint without too much hassle? I'm thinking of tinting some Lechler to something like the colour I'm...
Ok, cheers for asking my Q's Norsa and Snooper
There's a place in Hull that advertises on eBay that were doing certain colours (more than likely pre mixed) quite cheap. That wouldn't happen to be you would it Snooper???
He called it solvent based, and said that's if a place would sell it to us. Apparently it dries pretty quickly too.
I'm buying the paint, but when I look, I only find solvent tinters. The paints are usually 1 or 2k, cellulose etc.
I did call one place, and they do solvent, but I had to sign...
Cheers for the reply
My bloke wants to use solvent base coat. Isn't cellulose the same as solvent? And with the solvent base, can I use any old thinners with it?
Evening lads
I'm just about finishing up doing the prep on my BMW 2002 project, and I'm now thinking about the paint process. I'm drafting in a bit of help with this, and he knows half what he's doing. He said he uses a 2k primer, solvent base, and 2k lacquer and it should look good.
I'm...
Morning all
I've got some Lechler epoxy with the associated gear, and now need a spray gun to coat the 02 project.
I don't want to go mad with the money as I'm already spending a fortune, so any guys on here get on with any store bought gun?
Also, once thinned 10%, would I be best with a...
Morning gents
As title, what brushable seam sealer do you like? I've just finished a tin of Upol Grey Stripe, and whilst it's good enough, I wouldn't know if there's a better product out there. Plus as I bought it from Halfords, it seemed expensive.
Cheers
And one more question. I'll grab some of this Lechlar stuff. What one do I need, and what colour should I get it in to go under BMW sepang bronze?
It's the one in the middle
Cheers for the replies.
I'll stick with a couple of coats of epoxy rather than a high build.
And to confirm, if my prep wasn't the best first time round and the epoxy highlights it, can I key and fill over the epoxy?
Cheers for your help again.
I'll grab another tin of the epoxy I've got the hardener for.
I'll grab a filler primer too at the same time to go over the top. What do you guys recommend? My painter will be using 2k base and lacquer, but he said any old filler primer will do.
Edited to add, do I...
Ok guys, thanks
I best get a pal to paint it then! He did say he will do the base and clear for me if I do all the prep.
Can I use any old filler primer under 2k base? I'll buy one of them electric spray guns to paint it on
Ok guys, thanks.
As I'll more than likely be painting this jalopy myself, I ideally need the easiest one to use. As its a metallic (BMW sepang bronze), would it come out terrible if I did panel by panel?
