Back to woodbothering, something I knocked together in a previous life. One of a pair actually, this is at my Ex's house and the other is here at my house:
Mostly American Cherry with Black Walnut panels, the other has Padauk in the panels. I also made the boxes on top and the lamp which is...
Started my new lid for the little CNC Mill, swapping a bit of ply for some Ally chequer plate. Snag was I don't have a big enough piece but I had two bits and I have an AC TIG.
First thing to do, cut to size and fold a seam:
Then put them up and check the dimensions:
Yes, the bit will be...
I have many years experience of lead acid traction batteries if you need anything let me know. "our" old fork truck "Stacker" as @premmington refers to them was in the yard (going back many years here) and the lid was up, again, with my brother and our mechanic leaning over it, I came up behind...
RTU = Ready To Use So the price difference is not a good deal at all. In fact it is abysmal. I will just have to stump up for the forty five quid option.
Thanks for all of the suggestions guys but my question is, as above: what is the difference between Gallup XL and Gallup RTU? Apart from £30 in price
I have worked it out. Took me a while though.
I just checked and a gallon of Gallup XL is now FORTY FIVE QUID :o gave me an attack of the vapours it did. Is there much difference between this and Gallup RTU? I am trying to keep on top of some dandelion, grasses, brambles and other nasties. I do have some brushkiller which I find effective...
My pal came over and between us we managed to run four or five of my new bushing spanners off, bloody FINALLY, one of the most difficult jobs I have done on the machine so far (for lots of reasons other than it's CNC):
The original G code turned out wrenches that were just a little too small...
Received my new chamber reamer from the Ukraine, well I figure by buying stuff from there it helps, it is .32 ACP so not something there is a big market for in the UK:
This is small, really small and the writing is only visible after I photographed it, I was fascinated to discover the 60rpm...
Get yourself a small-ish container and try mixing a bit with standard thinner, if it doesn't curdle you might be okay. This is definitely a suck it and see job. I don't think white spirit is a suitable thinner, in fact I know it isn't.
Well, had a frantic day finding bits for me little van, down to my pal's scrapyard soon as I could and of course the bits I wanted were on a car four cars up. Took a while but it now drives absolutely mint. Anyhow upon my return home I found this outside the front door:
It is a three meter...
I got up this morning, bit of a result again and by ten thirty I was in front of the lathe, finished an hour ago, absolutely drained, but I was quite productive:
Chucked a bit of .303 barrel in the machine:
.303 Chamber reamer and off we go:
Bit more to it than just making a big hole...
So the lathe job turned out okay, it is a tool to measure offset:
You mount a dial gauge in it :
then it goes over the spigot to measure the protrusion underneath. Been meaning to make one for a while now.
Well, a totally chaotic day today, started three jobs and finished one :ashamed:
Thought I would start by getting that lump of steel in the mill and squaring it up:
It was well out, but it came right:
Then set my X and Y zero's:
Whilst going back and forth on the manual Mill I decided...
Well, not today but this week gone and wondering whether or not I have bitten off more than I can chew with this project. I only need one piece but well, you know:
They are almost, but not quite 3" X 3" so I see a flycutter in my future. If it works out I will start a new thread.
I know someone (now sadly deceased*) who had the same number on three Ford Cortina MkII's And it only went south when he sold one!
* He was a hysterically funny guy and if he had used his talents legitimately he would have done well.
