And that's what I was expecting to hear. It's also what I was afraid of.
So I guess no matter what I do, I'll have to have the shop (garage) plumbed with 220 or 3 phase. Bummer.
So nice over here to just put a 32a breaker in, plug in and go, eh?
Thanks, dude.

Hello boys
I'm moving back to the states and I'm wondering if it's worth taking my gear. I've got a Thermal Arc TIG unit and a Lincoln plasma. Common sense tells me that, at the very least, the Lincoln should work in the US with a different plug, but being wrong is one of my less endearing...

I've dealt with Andy before and he will source whatever you need.

Nice.
£220 for 44kg of copper? Yes please! I think that's well below scrap prices.
I'd love to see a 'how-to' on these roses. I've got loads of scrap left over from the wave and I'm not starting my next big project for a few weeks.
Cheers

I assume that the sil-bronze is done over a proper weld for decoration (on the above frame)?
When I was hovering up info for all the copper work on that sculpture of the wife's I either read or heard in a video that some custom frame builders would weld the frames up then grind down the weld...
Hi Parm
With no offence intended, I think your figures for sat pay might be a little off. Having just looked into it I would suggest that the pay is roughly half of what you have stated.
If you can confirm where the going rate is £2k/day in sat I'd be all giddy as I blow the dust off my hat...
Hi SBK
No, I was saying to use that search term in Google to find the article on sugaring. It's got some good info that might help the OP. I was out in the shop when I wrote that reply and didn't have the time to fetch the link myself.
If it was my last sentence about somebody with more ss...
Google 'weld sugaring'
I think it will get you to an article on the Miller or Lincoln site that might be able to help.
Most filler rod has some sort of deoxidising agent in it as far as I know. Maybe try again with appropriate filler.
The fab looks tidy and heat input looks good, too. I'm...
Hello chaperoonies
I've got some metal left over from the last project and I'm playing around with it. It's 1.6mm ms and I've done all I can think of to stop it from getting wiggly after welding and not had as much success as I would have hoped.
I tig'd 2 big pieces (400x480) along the long...
It will be sold.
The last sculpture did well and it was crap.
edit: to clarify, it will be sold by us. the hotel only gets it for a year. I'm already up on this one so it doesn't owe me anything, but it should end up paying for something nice.
