Well I decided to leave the collar on as it stands nicely upside down on it I will secure it with a strap to the workshop wall when I decide where to put it. There was plenty of room for the fittings, the tap at the angle is the water drain, the other connects to the 50Ltr tank on my compressor.
Strange! I posted that yesterday and it's only shown up today as I went to post this??
Anyway, Did as you said, Steel bar, big Stillson and got it off ok with a bit of puffing and grunting, will fill it with soapy water and leave it overnight and hope it doesn't blow away :D
Ok finally used up the gas in this 47K cylinder and ready to take the valve off so I can fill it with soapy water,
Is the tap a left hand thread as well as the reg hole? I did briefly try but it seems hellishly tight :dontknow:
Don't worry Parm, you'll figure it out, all the info you need is on this forum and if you can't find it just ask. Make sure you put a drop of airline oil in the tool each time you use it as well or it will soon fail.
Hee hee, you certainly have to be careful, if there is too much pressure and you miss judge it that drain plug can go off like a bullet. I can't bend like I used to so I tip the comp. onto one end so I can reach the plug, I have had it fly across the workshop a couple of times
Yeah keep it drained mate, I drain mine every evening when I pack up. Use high flow fittings and 10mm bore pipe, you can also improve things by fitting a connector directly to the centre of the air tank to avoid all the small plumbing and restrictions on the compressor.
Funny you should say that mate, that was the first thing I thought of. I joined the local group and then tried to post a wanted. it said you are waiting to be authorised. Ok. couple of days later I tried again, still the same, a week, still the same. I emailed the admin and gave it a couple of...
Hi mate, I didn't get it all from one seller I got the individual parts from different sellers on Ebay, for example http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/121220180447
Yes mate, but read about duty cycles, you could end up with a tank so big that a small compressor will run too long trying to fill it and get very hot and damaged.
Excellent idea guys, go for it, One thing though, you will see in the picture I have a ball valve tap fitted to the bottle and then a female air coupler, that will be changed when my parts arrive, it needs to be a male so every now and then you can invert the bottle, open the tap and let the...
Anyway, small bottles done and works perfectly, I had no problem drilling 19mm and tapping 1/2" BSP worked beautifully, Now for the big one, that should be easy as there's nothing to do really. I ordered the fitting from the bay just got to use some gas left in it and wash it out and it will be...
