Hi all, I'm looking to start powdercoating alloy wheels, engine parts, vehicle parts etc. I want to start a small business doing this as I want a change from full time fabrication, I have done powdercoating before (albeit a little) and plenty of electrostatic spraying gates and railings etc same...
To answer some peoples questions in a single reply, I have a few industrial estates where people won't mind, in fact I've had one engineering firm come up to me so they could have a look and start producing electric ones. My feet go on some stainless stunt pegs I made but are not included in the...
Hi guys, I do like keeping myself busy so I decided to build a drift trike. So to start I got the engine from a new generator 6.5hp I had cheap (£50) but I had to machine the crankshaft on the lathe and mill a keyway to accept a centrifugal clutch, then it was a case of making a frame up and...
Thanks guys, I think I'll modify it with some more tube, it is raked away slightly but I doubt its enough, after I line it I will run it and check the heat and go from there
Cheers
Also ill be using it to harden O1 tool steel, I may do forging too
Hi guys over the last few weeks I managed to collect some scrap in the bins at work to start making a propane forge, I've only had to buy the regulator and some hose, rockwool, fire cement and bricks. The welding isn't the best as I was using a naff set in work which was oxidising the welds for...
Yeah the smoke is a problem sometimes, although I didn't have much time to make a more complex design, it does the job well. And I could make another when the scrap bins pile up :)
Have another project lined up at the moment, a stainless steel twin burner forge. I'm researching some designs at...
Hi guys thought I'd share a very simple fire pit I made. I didn't have alot of time to make this (1 hour, but accepted the challenge), the original design was to keep a square fold at the top of the pit to weld 4 arrowheads in the corner but I folded it by hand with somebody helping me and was...
Hi guys sorry to double post but, I've managed to set a wp17 torch up, just waiting on some dinse plugs to convert it to 10 25-35 50, and a 2 pin switch plug as I don't want to solder it, just wondering how much the kemmpi mastertig 1500 would sell for as I only want to cover the cost of a...
Luckily in my teenage years and even now I play with electronics and high voltage stuff so have the tools (oscilloscope, dmm) to repair many items luckily and the knowledge, and have built a few tesla coils, plasma speakers, I made HF start for a friend's parweld xts 140 before, a 555 timer IC...
Well 20 mins with the Murex and the HF start is working, renewed the wires on the high voltage side of the HV transformer and good as new, 2 fully operational machines
Well the kemppi hf start now works, there was a slight short on HV flyback transformer to one of the ferrite u cores which forms the main power transformer
Ita a bit weak but will improve the insulation to increase output
On to the Murex tomorrow, I guessed the Murex was a better machine...
It works fine apart from the HF start, although I haven't run any rods through it yet only tested open circuit voltage, I've ran rods through the kemppi and it's fine nice smooth arc, if I get some larger dinse leads ill test it out but will be selling it cheap as I don't need it :)
Jlg, I'm...
Yes there is a potentiometer for spark adjustment, I've not opened it up to have a look but it's probably a small flyback transformer with a square wave output. Yes the bridge rectifier + DC bus capacitors will carry 330vdc and most machines have discharge resistors placed in parrarell to...
Hello everybody, been a while since I've been here but I've been given two welding sets for free and have another 2 to take home
1st one is a Kemmpi Mastertig 1500 1Ph
2nd is a Murex DC 160i
Both are pulsed machines in very good condition, they were given to me as the HF start has failed on...
The carbs I've got are 1.65mm main, the engine is a 1.8 litre 8 valve which is the same block as the golf mk3 gti 8v and mk2 gti 8v, They produce 115 horsepower on injection but the engine i have produces 90 horsepower on a single point injector, I'm wondering if 1.65mm jets will be enough to...
I've bought a adjustable regulator and I can tee off any remaining fuel back to the tank, I'm going to use the original manifold and weld some aluminium mandrel bends on I stead of using the stainless manifold I made
