I appreciate all the advice :)
This Alkyd paint sounds ideal.
Can you show me what I would need here http://www.paints4u.com/ although if anyone can suggest a decent alternative site I am happy to try anywhere.
This is the thing. I have no idea.
I have never painted before in my life, well apart from a bit of skirting boards haha
I am confused with the different types and types of thinners. Is there such thing as a good all rounder type of paint for metal stuff? Something reasonably hard wearing...
I have eventually got all the bits needed to do some painting and after focusing allot on the hardware and getting all set up I have neglected the most important thing, paint. haha
I will be using a gravity fed spray gun and I also have an air brush I want to play with too.
I will be...
I will order an inline one now, was considering it myself but was unsure if it would be needed but for the price I will get one.
Hurry up Mr Postman! :)
Thanks for the advice.
Yeah it is pretty loud but I wont be doing anything big and as you suggest I am able to have it a fair distance away from me as I just bought a 15 meter hose. I have also bought a wall mounted moisture trap and regulator so surely that will keep the moisture levels in...
I looked at kits previously but was put off by the low compressor capacity.
I have ordered this so far.

I know these are just cheap basic bits of kit but for my light use it...
I think it was about 80 but the display part is pretty naff, already feeling the urge to upgrade.
Can anyone suggest a logical "next step" upgrade? Nothing hugely expensive, maybe £200 at most.
Would have to run on my regular home electrics too.
My daughter loves JLS so why not hehe
Really enjoying myself and cant wait to do more :)
Using a 2.5mm electrode on that 3mm box section seams to be working well, did try a 3.2mm electrode and after a couple of short welds it kept blowing the 13amp fuse but I kinda expected that.
Still...
Cheers! I'll give it a go as soon as the bloody weather improves.
Every time I have a chance to make some sparks the weather turns to crap, god hates me hehe
I called 2 places, worked out great.
Well I think it was a fair price anyway, got 5 meters cut to 1 meter lengths 30x30x3 box section for £24 and they do have an off cut box that I grabbed a few bits of sheet and smaller bits of box section from.
I am going to call around a few other...
Hi Jim, posted my last post before seeing your reply.
I am in Newcastle Upon Tyne, your offer is extremely generous but I am happy to just go with your recommendation and order some myself.
Obviously if it turns out we are neighbours I'll be over in 5 haha
edit: I am considering this...
A bit of help needed regarding steel/metal.
I am just going to order some square bar and some sheets to play around with online, can you guys suggest the best grade or type to go for?
I'm not going to be going beyond 2.5mm electrodes for now.
If anyone knows of a decent online place I...
Many thanks for the responses :)
I have been really busy lately and have not had a chance to go get some decent stuff to practice on.
Its top of my priorities though and hopefully I will get the chance before the end of the week :)
Finally made some sparks hehe
This was just an old exhaust I had laying around so I don't know how thick it is or anything. I will be going to the local scrap yard to try and get some better practice material and this was more just to see if the thing actually works and although this is...
Chicken poop and a bull p***ing down a dusty road. I'll do my best hehe
I feel right at home :)
Cheers for the tips on the rods, did do a little reading and have been wondering about what the best brands were, these draper ones apparently work fairly well but I think I will order a few kg of...
