Some lo-hys are terrible when they're cold at leaving micro pores so i tend to use the same method as yourself then blend in the high spot with the edge of a cutting wheel, removing any potential defects from the cold start lump. The other way that your collegues use is much the same in...
just to close off the thread, got the capacitor through on thursday and fitted it along with the original spring type valve thing, and the compressor works as it should now , thanks for the input guys, saved me a small fortune! now to look for new hoses............
not that i can remember from looking at it, think ill just order one off ebay the now, its only a tenner, if it doesnt work then its new compressor time me thinks :(
just had a look at the capacitor and printed on it is 450VAC :o, could this be the problem or am i missing some kind of mad electrical equations here?, its been a 230v one since ive had it!
yup the valve was working fine that wasnt the problem for sure, as even with the valve completely open it struggles to get up to running speed on some cold days and ends up tripping the switch, only when the compressor is warm it works well, so its like it just needs that bit better of an...
hmm, not good then, new compressor perhaps.....
no, just replaced the cold start valve with one, just on the exhaust side of the cylinder, basically so the air empties out into the garage instead of going to the tank until the valve is closed
got a wee problem with the compressor, its been like this since i first got it a few years back but is starting to bug me now, basically it toils to start up initially and especially when its cold, infact when i heat the cylinder up a bit with the gas axe (low heat:whistle:) itll fire up no...
yep that would be me , but to be honest most of them broke when someone else was using them *never lend tools out*. i just kept using them until they were no longer useable :ashamed:. think im gonna go for a makita one, no quick disk change like the metabo one but i think id prefer...
hi guys, not been on in a while as been busy with work etc but its got to the point where im in need of a new grinder, a GOOD one!. all of the 9 grinders i had (2 hilti and 7 powercrafts) have given up the ghost in one way or another, so theyre all getting howked out and replaced with 1...
another +1 on drilling the ends of cracks, dont know how many 2 stroke exhausts ive welded back up over the years and it has started cracking again a week later, but done it properly last month to both mine and my brothers crossers by drilling the ends and then tigging it up and its certianly...
i bought one of these halfords ones last week, only 32 quid with trade card, and i think its great, lifts really quickley to the contact point and then it works as normal, but still quick tho, only thing i can fault it on is that its very heavy compared to the wee 2 ton things but supose that...
you should be able to get a liner to fit, but if you still want a euro torch then have a look here:

from my experience with r-tech, yes they are very good machines for the money, excellent build quality and reliability. i only have their dc tig but if the ac ones are anything similar then its a goer, their customer service is great and if anything does go wrong with a machine they are able...
just bought the 160 amp dc model they sell, really good quality compared to the two wolf's i used to have, only had a couple of hours use out of it so far but that was enough to kill the wolfs!, i think it's a brilliant wee machine for the money
i think they are chinese made but they...
