cheers for that, i knew i was missing something but now you have mentioned reversing the polarity i remember when looking at welders in the past the gas/no-gas welders had the option to reverse the polarity for this purpose.
Hi all,
Its been a while since i have fired up my little mig to do some body repairs, but i have some repairs to do to my current xr2i. Now i dont have the use of a garage this time and have only done a little outdoors in the past which wasn't good for gas useage.
Is is possible to use gasless...
Afternoon all, its been a while since i have been on here, but having recently purchased a mk3 xr2i i can see i will be back on here sharing my progress and asking for tips as its pretty rotten as to be expected.
I have been searching for repair panels as i will be needing a few rather than...
That's the one, going with Mid Derbyshire Motor Club. there will be lots of rally cars there which should be fun. I will no doubt have the cheapest and slowest car of the bunch. Really looking forward to it.
Thanks, just got back from taking it for it MOT and it passed with Flying colours. I must be getting better at this welding lark as the tester said it looked remarkably solid underneath.
finished it off yesterday welding up the remaining 6 holes. ran out of welding wire with about 3 inches to...
It's bubbling round the drivers side, but should prove fine for a while yet, really want to get it sorted on Sunday.
I made up 3 patch panels at lunch today so that will sort the outside.
I completely agree with you. Although I'm hoping just to use the car for the next year and I only have small sheets of steel so couldn't make one patch and a sill costs £30 so this is the cheapest way. Will probably be better than 90% of the KA rust repairs out there still.
Yeah I'm hoping it will just cost us running costs and general maintenance in the next year then can move it on with a fresh ticket for a couple hundred
I had a w reg fiesta zetec s a while back so all the common areas are the same. Bushes seem fine at the moment, depends how it takes to being pressed into daily service.
All boots gaiters etc look new all should be fine there. I had a crawl around with my torch at the rear axle and all that looks solid there too no excess movement.
Hoping just the welding to sort to get a years ticket on it.
Filled two holes this evening and made templates for the...
Oh its been in an accident alright, if you look closley the front bumper is a black on with a crap blue spray job, rear bumper originally yellow and tailgate red haha. from slam panel is a bit bent but apart from that no dodgy repairs i can find. for a cheap snotter it could be worse. perfect...
Hello all,
After my first little welding project of my mx5 I know have another car to try out my new found skills.
The story behind this KA goes bit like this; after selling the mx5 in the summer for 5 times what I bought it for i had some money burning a hole in my pocket. this was...
Two good questions,
I'm not too sure about the legs as the angle helps them dig into the ground, but could gather crap and rot quicker so my cut them and cap, although that takes measuring lol, banged the legs on by eye and got them pretty much spot on.
The door will normally be open a bit...
