I use boilied linseed oil, makes a brilliant and fairly long lasting finish,
Just clean the steel with a wire brush on a grinder, slap the linseed oil on fairly liberally with a cloth, then use a big gas weed burner type torch to heat it up, that polymerises (i think thats what its called!) and...
A bit harder to get an arc started on old welders like that, as I have been spoiled for so long with hot start on inverter welders,
Once you are going though, those things are pretty nice to weld with!
I think they are pretty much the same as a pickhill bantam, likely 180A, we have had one on the farm for a million years
it will continue to work through the apocalypse!
just dont do what i did.... and test to see if the little bubbles are hydrogen... because they are.... and they are bloody loud when you light them!!
cast steel or iron will do fine, i certainly have seen no ill effects, I did all my Transporters hubs and suspension components, then painted with epoxy paints, still looks great 10 years on!
i am usually a bit more carefull on aluminium.
I use an old 36v cherry picker battery charger, i find...
been having a poke about and indeed i think the issue is that the Arc Start and the Ok to move signals are erse aboot face on that 4 pin plug, and as wired it sent about 13v into my torch height controller instead of being a simple relay contact closing!
bugger, thats cost me 190 quid!!
Sorry to bring up an old thread from the grave, but after blowing up my torch height controller as soon as i powered on my jasic 60amp cutter, im needing a bit of help figuring out the wiring and found this thread ,
I also have that frap up of a job on the euro plug, with the 2 wires for the...
It always looks like they are running the welder a lot colder than a straight stringer like weld in order to get the puddle to freeze fast enough to keep the stacked dimes effect

I have been re-powering a Plasma table recently, at the stage of first test cut, starting to get the hang of things now,
Im using Sheetcam for the post processing and running Mach3.
I have got the Z axis zeroing perfectly when using MDI in mach 3, (g31 z-100 f200) and then (g92 z0),
but I am...
