Very interesting thread. Ive had my tirfor for years but was afraid to take the rope out incase it wouldn't go back in, so it always stays in the winch which is a royal pain in the backside. Going to try the silver solder.
I have to build up wear on some shafts, nothing critical. I would rather the shaft wear out again than the hole it goes in as it is an easier repair. Is there a specific rod that would be soft or would 6013 be OK?
It strangely seems to be getting worse. Was walking about like John Wayne all day.
I tried aloe Vera this evening after a shower, it was very painful.
Had a bit of a look on here about welding burns and someone had suggested sudo cream. Tried it and has eased the pain a lot.
I was mig welding post tops all day on Thursday. Got setup on a stool with post on tressels between my legs so I wasn't bending down all day. I was wearing army combat trousers so quite thick cotton cloth but my inner thighs are burnt up real bad and are now blistered. Has anyone else been burnt...
From my limited experience of citric acid, it can leave some pitting on steel if left in too long, which can be beneficial if the part is to be painted. Maybe not so good for a chuck. Should be fine if it's only in for a couple of hours but I wouldn't leave it in over night.
