This is one I did recently, if you look in the big end slots you can see the flatter cages to the big end bearings, The main bearings are Koyo brand. I've never had one fail yet. Worth the money.
The crankpins are integral with the inner crank webs. If you need a crankshaft with the pins...
I rebuild Tzr250 cranks for our race bikes. I take it the crank is the 1KT/2MA type. The crank pins are square not tapered.
The rod eyes have a habit of wearing oval so careful insection is needed, any pitting or signs of ovality then bin them.
Use the flat cage big end bearings, actually a...
Oooo Bob Farnham actually, well on that one anyway
Two stroke that will cheer him up, he used to race LC's and other such things.
I hadn't considered the crown shape being a deflector piston, don't know why I didn't think of it, makes sense. I reckon the two stroke diesel conclusion...
A friend of mine has this in his garden, we know it's at least 60 years old because it's been there that long! The bore is 245mm and it weighs about 6 1/2 stone. The crown head shape is pretty unusual.
So any clues what it might be out of?
I do a lot of tyres for my race bikes, we go through so many that doing them yourself makes sense, only small tubless 110 front and 140/150 rear normally. I have an Abba screw type bead breaker and some big MX type levers to get them off, although the best one I have is a flat spoon type i...
Like everything two stroke going up in value, nice ones of those are over a grand, low mileage and mint ones a lot more.
Nice bike that, i had the 100cc version back in the day and the later 175 MX version was the bike to have for Enduros at one point.
My late Dad had a CB175, K reg so...
It's good fun, I did a couple of 'proper' trials on it, but I started way too late really, I can do the easy routes with no issue but the harder stuff just ends in embarrasment :ashamed:
It's a bit battered but i guess if you use that type of bike properly they won't stay mint for long.
Well I guess this one gets the most attention:
Tzr250 2MA Race Bike.
Then this one:
RD350LC with a Bob farnham Tuned 350 YPVS motor and TZR250 forks and wheels.
Owned this since new, been written off once, crashed by me twice, I've trackdayed it, commuted on it, and it's been round...
Wow there are some varied and interesting lathes on here! Really enjoyed looking through the posts
Here's mine: Warco 720 Myford Clone. It's a bit tired but does well enough for my limited talents. Exchanged with a mate for some two stroke engine rebuilding :-)
Well I got it off very easily, lump of wood in the jaws, held it with a strap and off she popped. I'll come up with a hex bar and locking system long term I think.
Thanks for all the help and suggestions everybody :-)
I think with any machinery or tools, be it a lathe, mill welder etc. that you have to be realistic to what use you are going to put it to. We are all tool junkies to a certain extent, and given an inordinate amount of space and money would have big lathes, big mills and three phase programable...
He's got some good solutions there, I like the strap ideas, seems to minimalise the potential for gear damage, i'll let you know how i get on!
Thanks for all the help and suggestions folks
LC
On further investigation there seems to be a threaded hole in the mainshaft which i'm assuming takes a pin to lock it. Looks a little bit flimsy to me sizewise, I think I'll go with Turbos suggestion.
Anybody have an idea how old it is?
Many thanks for suggestions and help so far folks
Steve
I think the back gear and pin is the answer I'm looking for, I guess that's similar to the Myford 7 system?
Your other solution is very similar to the way my mate described his understanding of changing the chuck :-)
Sorry i should have said, yes the chuck is on a thread like a Myford. I'll do some more investigation. I agree it would be nice to have more centre height so i could get one of my bike heads on it, but i guess it probably wouldn't have fitted in my shed then, everything i've seen with gap beds...
I've been after this for over a year, managed to do a deal with a mate for it, he don't need it - he has three other bigger ones! Needs a good clean up, it's been in a working environment, comes with some tooling and most of the original accessories including face plate and four jaw
We think...
Look nice and strong those side boxes, and a darn sight cheaper than the decent bike stuff. Here's mine, up cycled milatary instrument box, made by Thermodyne, I'm not sure what it contained originally but it's built like Fort Knox, needed something bigger than the average top box to store my...
What a lovely little bike, such classic lines. That looks like the pre 1940 197 Super sports engine, which would fit with the racing past, I beleive you could buy the motor seperatly to upgrade your standard Villiers engined machine to 'sports' specification for racing etc. purposes, although...
I've got my late dad's old buzzbox, just kept it for sentimental reasons really. I've ended up using it on a variety of outside jobs, mainly broken horse yard items. I'm amazed how good some of the welds have been, it sticks things together well and although i wouldn't win any awards for the...
