Good pictures,
I had thought along the same lines but only using angle iron on the outside with a few mounting pieces as you have done fitted to the bracket. Its finding a few pieces of angle wide enough.
Looks like you got a good axle too, mine is pre galvanising and only 850kg
Hope its a lot clearer now, what is the best way to fabricate a mounting thats at the axle end to bolt onto the trailer chassis. The trailer chassis is angle iron. Had the caravan chassis rail been at the outside it would've been no problem to do.
The distance is approx 75mm to the axle end
I do remember dialling 911 in shreveport/bossier city louisiana 20 odd years ago, it didn't work, I was in the wrong part of town and that number didn't work! I think the 112/911 in the uk is aimed at the tourists that don't know to dial 999.
The fire service are usually 1st to arrive ;)
Cost is an issue hence using a caravan axle.
My old 6x4 self built trailer requires a new axle, I managed to pick up an alko galvanised caravan chassis so I intend using the A frame, hitch and axle. The axle is too wide so will require cutting, but the main issue is the axle mounting.

Must check the settings of the parweld, but I've experienced sore eyes using it welding car panels, that's a few minutes, not 8 hours! To be fair I'd use a better helmet for continous use.
Thats the secret to a good weld on car panels using a mig welder, also you will get to know the "sound" of a good weld, if you don't hear "it" its grinder time!
That's the profile you want, also the blade has to be balanced, I use a steel rule on its edge and place it in the middle of the blade mounting hole, some use a piece of round bar through the hole, whatever side dips down grind a little more off.
It may be due to the mask not being thick enough to prevent blobs burning through, more likely the plastic shields not able to prevent damage to the lens from sparks and blobs falling directly onto the helmet.
weldequip beat me to it! Must learn to type quicker
Setting tappits...getting to be a lost art in a main dealer, what gets me is when the master tech is on holiday or ill, the place grinds to a halt, he/she is the only one with the secret recipe to fix the fault.
I remember using a dwell meter at college to set up points in a imp (high...

A lot of head scratching, unfortunately the onboard computer doesn't log all faults, thats where the " how it works " comes into play, quite a few are lost if the computer doesn't give them the answer...better ask the dealer master tech if he knows, better still look up the...
