If it is to be Tig welded after the WD40 then clean it with Acetone. It is the choice of places like Roll's Royce prior to welding as it evaporates leaving no trace.
I have had success with industrial thinners however when I've run out of Acetone.
I always clean Alloy with Acetone wether I've...
This all may be of no consequence to you being as you havn't said what your trying to achieve but it will put a pointer or two to newbies.
They are available thinner than the popular 1mm Carbon 4" & 1/2" Grinder disc's but the ones I've ever come across tend to be smaller and also have smaller...
The way to use a bench grinder is to spin it in your fingers while gently sweeping it across the face of the grinding wheel.
We never used anything else and would invert the end to be sharpened pointing it uphill if you like.
Nice to see for me as well. It was quite some years ago that I did one of these and an old guy showed me how being as I was semi skilled at fabricating.
I was talking to a mate the other day who does bits and I talked about square to round but had to confess that I'd never done it since and...
I wouldn't have Clark produce a welder either lol.
I'll get onto Fronius Monday and see what they say.
PDG- The lathe motor only had 3 phase 415 on the plate which when I asked first at the rewind place they said if it was the older 3 phase motor it would not run on an inverter.
Now I can't...
As said the water based stuff is useless especially the coloured variety. It doesn't matter who's you buy be it Cuprinol, B&Q's own brand whatever.
In my my garden many years ago I made new side fences and later front fence panels and thinking it was ok I at first bought Cuprinol.
Within two...
Yet again with the right answers Eddie. Good man and very helpful indeed.
I was a service engineer at a very large bakery near Manchester for a few years and though for the most part I was on shift with a sparky who would when we wasn't rushed off our feet to get the line going would explain...
On a dog walk a few days ago I called into to see the main man Jack at Raptor Titanium.
He said they hardly sell pegs for trials bikes any more but still supply some wholesalers.
The tops are now pulsed in by Robot. Though it misses here and there so they do touch up manually.
Trouble is you...
Just been testing it with my Metex Test lab multi meter and none are shorted to the iron core so it didn't get that far.
As for ohm's on the input side I get 20.9 between the 225v and the OV next to it.
21.8 between 240v and OV...
So when I got home today I wiped the black marker off the board and spade connectors and marked the spade connectors with the correct numbers according to the board and removed the transformer from the welder.
Apart from a label on the side which states- Date: 08/04/86. Ser Nr 415 and gepr. von...
There is both 3 phase and 240 so I think their inputs for the most part. I'll have a better lok tomorrow and trace exactly where what goes.
The mig worked even after I unplugged it for a while. But I just did a very quick test to see and turned it off again so though the transformer is goosed...
As Eddie says it may well provide for the wire feed motor, gas solenoid and so fourth.
It has a board with solder points fixing it to the top of the transformer and has tapping's for either 3 phase or single phase with slight variations I'll assume for certain country's varied voltages 220 -240...
Hi all.
I've had for a lot of years at home this Bohler Mig 160 Compact.
It must have been aimed at the car garage as it has a 12 volt charge/start facility
switch on the front panel.
It has been a fantastic little Mig set but yesterday while welding up some brackets for the Mezzanine floors in...
Just over 6 or so year ago I worked at a firm who bought a plasma at around £3k. It was quite large in comparison to today's offerings and had a built in compressor but I can't remember the make. It was dark green in colour.
It was forever braking down and often fried a small board inside.
Then...
Nice! Its been a while since I've seen some on. Though the design has changed a little.
Is the wear pad an optional extra or something you found elsewhere.
I shall have to go see Jack the boss again as its been a while and he's a top bloke.
Fred.
Back in 2010 I did some welding for Raptor Titanium local to me welding up their 6AL-4V grade foot pegs for moto cross and trials bikes.
It was the first time I had ever welded titanium but I didn't think it was hard.
If anything it seemed easier than a lot and my description was it was like...
Unless I looked into that I wouldn't know fella but a mate did say a short while ago that more and more problems with them are arising.
Be a shame if quality is slipping but it wouldn't surprise me either.
I recall a Cebora being delivered dead some 10 years ago.
I'm sure all have some.
Either...
Sorry for that. I did think you meant me.
Having said that the box was sealed with R-tech tape so neither did I or the Courier kick it in.
It was odd though because if you've seen the 251 it is none digital having all the knobs needed for operation.
It was that panel that was concaved if you...
Why on earth would I do that. To what end would that gain me apart from a tig set without a scratch which I can assure you was not a problem to me or I'd have just payed the full price in the first place.
I merely quoted what Dylan from R-tech said had happened. He even said it had happened...
