This is so true, when I took my MIG lvl 2 we had machines that cost about 2.5k each and you could not do anything wrong, as long as you moved at a sensible speed you could put a bead down like a pro, just pop in your wire dia, plate thickness, gas used, what joint it was and what you wanted for...
I got an R-Tech 180 MIG, now I have to source the gas and fittings from somewhere that won't break the bank, I was using the disposables with my sip when not using flux core as they served a purpose when empty too, but I have stopped making smokers now, and my gas usage is very low.
Just to let you all know.......
I managed to pick one up dead cheap as it was a bit scratched and missing the stinger, OmG I can see why they are recommended, even running 0.8 flux core through it ran smooth, hardly any spatter, and a recognisable weld and, there wasn't a pigeon to be seen even...
Thank you Bbe555 but I'm going to have to pass, working it all out it's still going to be about £400 (as on the R-Tech website) for me with the travel up to you, I appreciate your offer though and hope you get a sale soon.
Cheers.
Hi all
I know it's not a lot to be spending on a Gas/Gasless but that is all I have at the moment as my SIP just decided to throw its box of sparks out of the window, I have a couple of jobs to do and desperately need to pick one up asap.
Could any of you recommend a decent MIG welder for...
I have a clark 90 but only ever use it with 0.8 flux core, I have joined 1mm to 3mm with it, granted i had to prep the 3mm by heating it with a butain torch. I think the 0.6 would be more suited to 0.5 - 1mm
I had a look around the forum and i'm not sure where this should go, so if a kind mod could shift it to the appropriate place that would be grand.
I recently had a good look into the respiratory side of welding and came up with a list of reasons for using a good ventiilation system, be it...
I have to dissagree with at least one post, (cant remember who it was from cos this thread is epic) whoever it was said "Dont waste A&E's time because it will go on its own"
If you get flashed and you feel the gritty feeling (your conjunctiva across your eyeball breaking up under your...

Well I think i must be a bit of a freak when it comes to security, I worked hard for the stuff i acumulated in life and i do'nt want any lowlife taking it away.
Heres what i did to an up-n-over garage door.
I took a trip to an auto salvage yard and purchased a complete internal plunger...
Do you not have to do a Nic/Break to the 1/4 pipe? we had to, the amount of fails people had because it looked like a sweet weld but had no penetration and contained porosity was unreal
