Thanks Chunko, great advice...and thanks for the offer, very kind
and the rest of you that replied also thank you :D
keep up the replies, i am very determined to get something sorted, obviously not got a big wad of cash to throw at the project...but really want the lads to come out on the...
was looking on 'tinternet at quads, now that would be some engineering, not got a lathe or anything, the one i saw looked great, not sure what site i saw it on now but it was for some college project
far too complicated for me
yep thats the sort of thing i want to make, bit more mountain-bikeish after all it has to have a bit of man-cred :D
but yes...bit confused how the hubs work, independently like a diff
Just wondered if any of the forum members who are into modifying bikes have made an adult tricycle, I want to make one using two or three old mountain bikes and make a trike to take my two boys out with us when we go out for a ride as a family, one of my lads is a toddler, & one has special...
problem is silicone can be combustible at high temps & can give off highly poisonous fumes, the fumes if inhaled can cause repository deceases like silicosis...be cautious
looks like a radio mast/tower beacon...& if it's something to do with Amateur radio it'll be worth more complete than made into something else...every part of equipment in Amateur radio carries a hefty pricetag...looks impressive though
I'm no expert but tig isn't very forgiving especially if you are new to it, I personally would use mig for a landy chassis...just my 2 pence worth, i have a DC tig and also new to tig, & have done mig for years, & only just feel experienced enough to do work with it on a car, i wouldn't use my...
you did disconnect the battery terminals...yes? that's a a critical safety check...this can be overlooked when welding but it is probably the first thing you need to do before you commence welding...i may be telling you things you already know but better to be safe.
wozzzah is right in saying...
looks like a good weld in pic 3 the vertical run, if you can master those, they are a bit more difficult than horizontal runs, you should be ok, like members have said, grind it down flat, then do the thin metal technique, i'm sure a few members on here would have a bit of difficulty doing...
Hi not 100 % on prices better to give them a call to be sure, but i went there as the bigger suppliers have so many surcharges for eg. some have a dealer surcharge
I got the DC pulsed model from the company mentioned above...wasn't sure why the HF circuit wouldn't arc...opened it up to find the two input wires for the HF board completly disconnected connected them then away we went, but quality control is poor form whoever they import them from...bought 3...
thats where i went the first time £55 for a refill you are having a laugh surely hence the reason i went to maynards who do " proper " C02/argon mix & Pure Argon
my supplier is probably a tad too far from you (Glos.), but if you look at my post in gas suppliers you'll see who i mean i think they fill them to 150 bar thats what my regulator says
Mark & Martin @ Maynards are great, good prices, and great advice, they carry all the regulators in stock too & a nice selection of MMA, TIG, & Mig welders & consumables for all the machines
plus genuine nice chaps too
I went into one of SW gas supplies' distributors in Cirencester,Glos. motor factors there, was £128 initial charge, didn't think that too bad, just about to get the wallet out to pay, then asked how much a refill was...they qouted me whatever the price was without the bottle surcharge which was...
Hi mate...good first effort, just need to get the tacks closer, slightly overlapping each other...what welder you using make model?
might need a bit more power too, the welds look like they are standing a little proud, could be wire speed, too much?
keep practising mate it'll pay off...
Looks ok to me, were you using a pulse technique, i find i get on better with that on thinner stuff like thin small box section or sheet...looks much improved using the new gas
well you did ok, if you follow the words of wisdom the other posters have mentioned, you'll do ok, what a bonus bagging a nice little clarke welder, especially for nowt.
check the gas to see if it's pure argon or argon Co2 mix, if it's Argon not sure you'll get on too well, i think thats for...
