Got it back. They'd stashed it presumably to come back for it later but I found it. Odd thing is I can't find the gas cylinder anywhere. If I was stealing stuff I'd have taken the welder and tools first not a gas cylinder!
Just found out today that my Portamig 185 has been stolen from my lockup. I'm in Cumbria. It's in as new condition and the BOC industrial size argoshield lite bottle was also taken with it.
I know it's a long shot but if any Cumbrian members on here are offered one......
Interesting they are now supplying a 5Kg reel adaptor with them. I guess that means they have now decided that there is a problem using a 5Kg reel without an adaptor!
The wire was 0.6mm and is made by lincoln. The problem occured when the wire was coming from the inner side of the spool. This made the angle just too much and it sort of trapped itself and prevented it feeding correctly. I got and fitted the adaptor kit from Weldequip and now with the centre of...
My experience was that the wire feed being at such an acute angle caused the wire feed to stutter and jam. With the adaptor kit I got it now feeds smoothly and consistently.
I had exactly the same problem with mine and bought the adaptor from weldequip like in the pictures above.
I can't understand how it can work correctly with a 5Kg reel. The wire runs at an accute angle and on mine jammed and tangled causing my first proper job to suffer due to the stuttering...
Super glue also contains isocyanates. Perfectly safe as long as you don't glue your fingers together :)
The problem with 2k paint is it hardens by chemical reaction so when you breathe it in as vapour in paint form it hardens in your lungs :(
Things like Tigerseal and superglue aren't...
I also have a Portamig and a 5kg rool of 0.6mm wire (I also do thin car bodywork) I have had a problem with the wire feed on mine as the wire was out of allignment and snagged causing a juddery feed.
I'm going to have to invest in a 5kg adapter for mine. EDIT I just have ordered a set...
Mine took 7 weeks from placing the order to delivery. That was a few months ago now. A few other people's took about the same length of time.
I understand about the waiting list and I'm not complaining but I think it's out of order for them to quote a week when it's clearly much longer.
I know this is for painting not welding but.....
Does anyone have experience of sperian air fed masks for spray painting?
I inherited a Clarke air fed mask and decided to buy a Devillbis one from ebay. I've never found this to be as good as I expected in fact I still prefer to use the...
I just got my rental invoice through today from BOC. I rang a few weeks ago and they said they would put me on the volkszone deal but it wouldn't start until I got my gas bottle (I already have a part used one). My invoice is for £40.98 (inc VAT) Is this the current volkszone deal price?
I've only done Mig not Tig but my auto mask (only a cheapy, not used the e680 yet) seems to work fine. I get a decent view of the welding process no problem.
Wouldn't go back to a fixed mask ;)
