Thanks for all of the helpful replies. I did consider brush and roller but after many YouTube videos concluded that most finishes looked pretty bad - probably because most were done just to save money and they weren't willing to put in the hours finishing. I like the turbine option - not quite...
I've painted a car with cellulose using a normal compressor and that came out well. I no longer have the compressor, but I do lack space and the noise of the compressor is a slight issue where I live.
My 1970 Land Rover will need painting soon, I will prep it and paint one panel at a time. Is a...
Not by the leak - by the previous owner - have a good replacement! The leak wasn't that bad - actually this car is quite good rust wise, it's why I bought the car - that and the manual gearbox...
These cars are really good quality but there were a few minor design flaws. One is that the drain hoses for the sunroof don't exit the sills (they should) and therefore rainwater enters them. This had happened on the drivers side, which eventually made a hole into the footwell...
Thanks for the comments!
Been working on the rear OS arch today, only had two areas of rust but the edge of the inner arch was quite crunchy. The photos only really show the highlights as refabricating the inner arch and joining it to the outer (a ready made panel which needed to be adapted)...
I've been working on this for a few months now, held up a bit by bad weather. I bought it off ebay before Christmas, not running, some rust but looked to have a much better body than most. It's a 1982 (series 2) 635 CSi with Getrag dogleg gearbox and some quite nice factory extras - no a/c but...
I found a company called Wallothesch (based in Germany), they supply a lot if classic BMW stuff including exhausts. I ordered a back box and it arrive last week - manufactured last year by BMW - so still available
Thanks for the advice. I think I'll chop it off and maybe cut the bottom off to see what it's like inside. If I can repair it and it only lasts a short time this will at least enable me to get it OTR.
Having said 'I'll never do another car project' last year, I've predictably bought another car project. Not like the last two, which were basket cases, this one is in pretty good condition really - especially for an E24 - but some minor welding is still needed here and there.
On issue is the...
I tested the resistance and it was the same between all connections! So I wired it up as shown (temporarily) and it works REALLY well - very quiet, smooth and powerful - not at all like my mid range modern drill. It doesn't like it when the belt is to tight on the slowest speed, but it's...
My new start capacitor arrived today. I have installed a new switch and wiring and configured it as found (see photo). The original start capacitor wasn't connected and the wires looked like they hadn't been attached to anything for decades... How do I know which wires to connect where? Why are...
