I've had a Pacemaker fitted and been told that I can never use a Mig welder again. Real bummer as I love to sneak into the garage for some quality Mig time. I've never wanted to go near gas but now it's my only option. Is gas an alternative to Mig. My welding is just on my old classic cars and...
Hi Frank,
Yes, all done and as you say, probably took around 90 minutes. My heart's in a weird place, they appear to have gone in up by my left shoulder. 'No work for a few weeks now and because I had a couple of episodes prior to it being implanted I've had to surrender my driving license (six...
Hi Frank,
Many thanks for your info. Yes, mines the defrib type which I didn't like the sound of - Kick like a horse but they assured me if I needed it I wouldn't know anything about it. I did ask the consultant but he knew nothing about welding and thought there wasn't a problem until I...
Hi all,
Had a fairly crap start to the year, ending up in A&E. To cut a long story short I now have a CRT-D installed in me. I would have said a Pacemaker but the Cardiologist kept correcting me - It's a Cardiac Resynchronisation and Therapy - Defibrillator. I'm struggling to get categoric info...
Mate of mine wants to do some welding on his car. He's not got much in the way of budget. I spotted this welder at £74.00 on ebay which seems an incredible bargain if it does a job. He wants gas-less so this seems ideal. Has anyone any experience of this welder.
I sit on brake as my latest company car doesn't have a handbrake just a little switch and an automatic brake engage which I can't bring myself to trust. I've already had a couple of incidents where I flick switch to put 'handbrake' on and I'm inadvertently switching it off. Can't easily change a...
I suspect you're spot on! Bought a can of zinc rich weld through primer. My welding isn't great at the best of times and I need all the help I can get. Weld through primer was absolutely no help, can't beat clean metal - Lesson learnt!!!!!!!
Good point - failures are often indicated by physical signs on a PCB (signs of burning, tops off capacitors etc) - what's the fault? Likely components that fail are power devices (Mosfets etc). For what they cost it might be worth replacing them if you can find find cheap rework technician...
Hi Stewart, I've a Frogeye that I'm trying to restore (my first ever attempt at a restoration) and I struggle with my mig but 'heck'- I feel your pain - treat yourself to a Mig!!!!
Sorry not Linux but you could still tax your grey matter with a Picaxe micro coupled with a http://www.picaxe.com/Hardware/Add-on-Modules/Ultrasonic-Range-Finder/
Not using a welder but similar idea - Working with a new technician. He'd been using a piece of kit (oscilloscope) with several dials on. I used it for another application and of course changed the settings. He completely lost it with me telling me I shouldn't have changed anything!! Of course...
That Owon looks small and neat - one on ebay with box for just £199.00. A complete bargain when compared to what a scope would have cost when I first got into the game in 1980. It also appears considerably smaller! If that's still too rich I've an old Tektronix 2235 I bought from Stewarts of...
Many thanks for the comments - A mate is producing exact replica C-Type Jaguar chassis. He's been obsessing over how to achieve welds to the standard of the original. The image is one I took for him of a genuine chassis from a car that's probably worth millions. It appears the bar is very low or...
