The maths you have kindly worked out suggests to purchase all that equipment would take years and years to break even. As this is in a domestic place it would be easier to get something wired into the mains like an instant water heater as "toddy" suggested. This must be the cheapest option , not...
I've seen small 24 volt 300 Watt immersions heaters that are used as dump loads for PV circuits and this got me thinking it could be possible to connect the PV panels directly to the heating element , Just not sure if enough energy is available to heat a small amount of water over a reasonable...
I'm trying to avoid lots of plumbing as this would destroy decoration etc running pipes all over the place, so using cables I think would be easier. Evacuated tubes would be a good choice if starting from scratch though.
I'm interested in advice to heat a 5 gallon tank of water directly from solar PV panels and wonder if it's a feasible concept. Matching the PV panels to the resistive immersion heater load is where I'm confused.
The reason is to get hot water to the kitchen sink I have to draw off what seems...
Ive made a few small wheeling machines for wheeling model body panels and found rigidity is very important, so depending on your design for my money flexibility is to be avoided but costs loads. I happened to come across a design that makes perfect sense to me to use the roof of your workshop...
I used to deal with this particular issue in the 90's and this was a defect that occurred fairly frequently. The engine wiring loom has branch connections that suffer from poor manufacture and create the symptoms you describe. Breaking open the loom and repairing could be an option. Back then...
I had a record for 50 years and broke it recently (abuse) I don't think I'll get my moneys worth out of the new one so bought cheap, five years done the line and it's holding up just fine. So far.
Yes possibly, what ever is easier . I found this thread that explains much to me a complete novice. https://www.stovesonline.co.uk/Twin-wall-flue-systems.html
Thank you for you detailed reply. So when you say "twin wall with insulation" does that mean glass fibre loft insulation , or Vermiculite. if I make something up to pass through the roof, what thickness insulation ?
I am planning building a small log burner heater for my shed (140ft2)to keep things toasty in the winter and am stuck how to get the flue through the roof. Commercially available insulated flue products seem very expensive and as I'm on a budget I wonder if a home made flue method is possible...
Moles have been visiting for a few years now and plays havoc with out garden and would like to get rid of them , any tips. I've tried trapping with moderate effect. I've tried a small radio tuned to radio 4, no results. I'm into crushed garlic in the tunnel, no results. The current visiting...
