Thanks guys.
Reading Google results, engine oil isn't recommended as it contains detergents to hold deposits in suspension so they are picked up by the filter.
As the compressor doesn't have a filter, it's better (according to reports) for piston compressors to use non-detergent so deposits...
Hi guys,
I've just got an old, faulty Sellarc (W Bateman Ltd) belt driven compressor.
I've fixed the start capacitor centrifugal switch (corroded spring) and replaced the start capacitor (dead) and it now works!
However, the twin piston cast iron compressor unit has a label on which says to...
I only fitted mine last autumn, but that was the idea of the switch - turn it off in the few weeks of summer we have!
Also, it is self regulating so wouldn't be taking 15W all of the time - as the temperature of the heater rises the current drawn will reduce.
I suppose that also means if I'm...
Tea-lights only last an hour or so, so who's going go go out to the workshop every hour through the night?
24 tea-lights per day sounds expensive to me
Hi all,
As my MIG machine is stored in a fairly damp environment, and I can't be bothered removing the wire after use every time, I've fitted one of these enclosure heating elements:

It's only 15W, which, by my reckoning works...
That was my thought - I could just imagine it rasping away at the inside of the plastic liner, creating grooves which then trap the wire :dontknow:
Anyway, as said, I'll replace the liner with steel - then hopefully the tension can be backed off so it doesn't mark the wire.
Cheers,
Robin.
Ok, thanks for the replies, and the warning about loose wire! Hadn't really given that one much thought :o
I think I'll wait for the new liner to arrive and try it then - you could be right about the tension needed to push it through the old liner.
However, I still have the question about the...
Hi guys & gals,
I've just been given a SIP Topmig 150 Turbo as a 'spares or repair', along with most of a 5kg 0.8mm reel and a half full pub gas bottle.
The guy was having all the usual wire feed problems - didn't want to bother with mods and just went out and bought a new one - nice for some...
Hi all,
Does anyone know what liners are compatible with the Migatronic 166 Rally?
I've tried a 'standard' steel liner (ebay!) but the outside diameter is too big at 4mm. The old liner is only 3.2mm so the 4mm liner won't go into the torch end.
I've tried searching for liners by outside...
