Nice collection the handle on the one I made is brass and should have been knurled but I ribbed it instead.
He said they used to knock off the brass bit on the end of the scabbard to allow any water to run out.

Sorry for the late reply had a few problems, I made this knife for an old 76 year old ex Royal he said the heavy handle made it stick in your hand like glue. It was not used for throwing or opening your rations it had one purpose .

You should always warm up electrical stuff ie welders etc , if you leave it to long damp gets in - capacitors discharge flat etc and when you fire it up puff it don't work.
I always try to burn a couple of rods, burn a bit of wire etc once a month.
A bit of trig ? soh cah toa and the builders square 3,4,5.

What resistance value and wattage did you end up substituting ,when I worked repairing welders many years ago we would quite often find a low wattage resistor blown .
Harry the old electronics master said it was common practice to lower the wattage to make sure they had the repair income.

Many years ago I have repaired guillotine beds with this method and they stood up to it.
It can be a useful repair method to add to your repair arsenal.
When fibreglass catches fire it take no prisoners welding sparks can reach the far corners of most work shops any rubbish and they will smoulder away.
I also use a cheap gazebo and windshields and plan my welding day.
also watch out some of the old fire blankets contain asbestos
One other tip is to do it in 1/2 to 3/4 inch lengths in different places as soon as you have welded a short length peen it rapidly with a ball point hammer to relieve the stress.
I also think it can loose them sales ,Some people believe or not are a little shy and do not like to haggle it makes them feel uncomfortable .
I also think the price is a little high especially if you are an hobbier and can't claim tax back.

Hello parm sorry for the late reply .I cobbled together a 2" belt sander but the belts are quite hard to get on this side of the pond,so I make a lot of my own scarf edges and bond with power bond 806 stick on a backing strip and away you go .
I grind by hand but intend to make a grinding table...
Yea left it in the porch for a couple of months to dry slowly. If they start to radial crack I bin them.
