Went to use my tool post grinder on the lathe the other day and the motor went pop.
On inspection there is a capacitor with 3 wires (I can only assume there are two capacitors in one package) that had ruptured.
The grinder is a 'Little giant' 1/10 HP motor standard to the Boxford lathe...
I'm thinking of getting a secondhand TIG for my small workshop.
What make of Inverter TIG is easily repairable, with good spares on hand.
Single phase about 180 amps
Cut and mitre it or alternately heat and bend it (:o).If you only have this chassis to do. I've got a bender, but to buy the dies in that size would cost £350.00.
The use of nitrogen is required by law in aircraft tyres as the brakes can easily overheat. Something weighing 200 tonnes doing 180 knots suddenly losses a spoiler........ I'll let you do the maths as to how much work the brakes have to do to stop thing before it falls off the end of the runway...
The .45 is heavy on recoil. The .38 lighter, but a saturdaynight special, you're unlikely to hit the side of the weehouse, let alone a gatso. You need a plated round to go all the way through, so stick with the .45 and good training.
A granfather's advice.
Well its funny, - in countries with more relaxed gun law...gastos don't last so long. That happens on the nearer corners of Europe too. France has it share of shot up cameras.
While you are right (being a petrol head i don't motor past schools etc)...somehow there is something just wrong...
Don't talk to me about sheds. Just bought a skil saw for building. I thought steel made a mess.....Its nothing compared to wood. Sawdust....Its in my car as well as the neighbour's garden.
With a skill saw I feel like I'm about to loose a finger. Normally I only get that feeling betting on...
New units are also considerably cheaper then the eBay claim! That unit being sold is a 1970 item and would have cost the equivilent of £500 in today's money and that figure is from the comapny who made the unit.
To have an old one rebuilt will cost £250 +vat, so that's an ebay pipe dream...
That first lathe looks like an old Poole Special. My Granfather made a braze repair to a broken casting on one in the war - so it could be used to make machine guns parts again (sorry no photos, only of him and his mates arming a Spitfire for business). That chuck is way too big for it...
Well i was out on a Police driving course coupleof Fridays ago. While told not to take the urine, the only speed limit absolutely and strictly enforced is 30. Being waved on at 80 on a clear motorway by a copper was an uplifting experience. I should say we were all on bikes, and bike coppers are...
******* and 3 legged horse dealers.
Words of experience.
Check 'em out but they are well known for 'calibrating speedos' and general dodgy goings on. Look out for long gaps in service history and unsually low between MOT milegages. The muppets on the forecourts don't have a clue so as far as...
I must have some very friendly motor factors about then. Comes in red plastic barrels....£35 for 25 litres of the stuff. Cheaper then motor oil. Most motor factors will sell you a few litres if you bring a glass or plastic container.
depends on how much they want your business as to how much of a difference in the bottles there is.
A/L seem to want my business at the moment.
Shielding gases come in different pressures so some companies try and flog you an extra rental as they say the bottles are different.
Acetylene...
I spoken to my supplier and the unofficial line is as many hours as it was on its side, it must be upright before using.
All the other gases are simply compressed gas so it makes no odds. Acetylene is the odd one out as it disolved in a acetone which has to be allowed to drain back into the...
Battery acid. Neutralise with a strong solution of washing soda after or it will go on eating away at the metal. You can buy battery acid at most motorfactors and its cheap as chips.
King nasty process, but its very effective. Gloves and gogs a must and emergency eye wash to hand.
If you...
Well I can help...but not with BOC bottles. BOC are a pain in the **** if you want Argon instead of argoshield so I don't use them.
Air products X30 size for coogar5
Also air liquide O/A full size.
I'm going over fully to A/L as they let me swap and change the gas type and bottles I have...
