Thanks All. That will get me started. Did not know about the Google images thingy - useful. Have had some more ideas overnight. All I need now is some time. Nivag
Hi All, I would like to make my Mum a decorative plant stand to place outside her ground floor flat and raise the plants (in pots) to a height which is easy for her to tend. It needs to look Georgian style as her flat is part of a beautiful grade 2* listed building. I have in mind a...
Need some advice please. What face mask should I wear when spraying high temp lacquer (from a can) on my brake callipers? I will be working within the wheel arch so need to have something to stop breathing the spray vapour. I don't want to spend a lot of a mask with removable cartridges...
Thanks Water Skier. That sound like a good buy to me. Meddings is a quality machine. I probably need to look out for auctions, farm sales etc but I am very time poor at the moment. Nivag
Good Evening "My Ansomes" as we might say in Cornwall.
I need some advice please. I need to replace my ageing Wikes pillar drill as the motor is too feeble and easily stalls. It is very basic. My budget is circa £200 and I have been looking at Clarke (from Machine Mart), Sealey (from my...
Hi All, on two of the four callipers the clear lacquer on the outer surface has peeled. The red paint underneath seems OK. What is the best course of action to get them looking good again? I would rather not take the callipers off and would rather use a brush on lacquer of possible (no...
I like Halfords Advanced Professional range. I think the ergonomics and finish are excellent for the price (especially when you buy under one of their many promotions). I broke a Torx bit and they replaced it without question. It was a small one with a hole up the centre. The Halfords guy...
ESAB Origa Air is not the same quality or as eloquent a design as the Adflo but is less than half the price. Seems perfectly OK for home/hobby use. It does what it says on the tin. Nivag
I use disposable 3M 9925 face masks for quick jobs or an ESAB Origa Air fed helmet for larger jobs. Both do an excellent job in my view. I believe the Adflo would be very good quality/design but possibly difficult to justify the cost for home/hobby use. Nivag
Welding fumes and paint fumes frighten me. I bought a helmet with an air filter and small fan which pumps a curtain of air in front of your face (Esab). So far so good but need more time to use it. Nivag.
I have the Sealey Mightymig 190 and it is excellent. I imagine both ranges are similar. It is far better than a cheap MIG I had years ago. Spares are readily available and their technical staff are helpful.

Good Evening Tiglers, do I need to buy a foot pedal for my SIP P60P AC/DC TIG? I see that SIP do one for this model but I have not used a foot pedal before. It is years since I used a TIG (large industrial BOC Transtig I think).
Thanks Nivag
Hi, where is the best place to get spares for my TIG torch. It is the original fitted to a SIP P160P AC/DC and is marked TIG 17F. The handle is blue and the trigger button is red.
I have just had the welder's sheet metal cover powder coated and it now looks very posh.
Thanks, Nivag.
Hi, I have saved up enough to get the gas for my TIG. What gloves are best? I have quite a small torch on the TIG (SIP 160 amp AC/DC) and I want good dexterity with the gloves on. The typical sort for arc and MIG seem too inflexible/cumbersome. What do you "TIGLARs" use and where can I order...
Used my new kit for the first time yesterday. Works very well, simple to set up and use. Fan/filter unit is bigger/more bulky than the Adflo but you don't really notice it when welding. Good unit for DIY use. An Adflo maybe better for full time professional use but cost is significantly...
