Turned a cardboard box into an aluminium works style dash pod for someone’s rally Mini.
And then I backdated the roof gutters on the Mayfair I’m building into a ‘70s S replica.
No it’s not really necessary when you’re only replacing the skin of the sill. If I was cutting out the step and the inner sill I would add a brace but fortunately I didn’t have to go that far.
Yet more Volvoing. The front step repair went in nicely then I made a repair for the rear step/door frame.
The left hand sill got prepped and fitted as well and that’s the last of the panel replacement! :clapping:
I welded the rear step boxing section and and got the repair section for the rear of the boot floor in as well. I’m starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. :welder:
I cut the old rear step sill in half and tigged the original inner onto a new outer and got that welded on.
Then I got onto making the new channel that boxes in the step from underneath and painted the inside with some 2K before I went home.
Project Theseus continues.
I’m onto the back of the Volvo now working on replacing the rear step and back of the boot floor, but first hatch corners!
The inner structure for the boot was also grotty so that got hit with the hot glue gun as well.
To be fair this one has live on the coast for most of its life.
I had another one in last year and all it needed was a 40x100mm repair on the rear floor pan on each side.
The Volvo’s still grotty but it’s getting better by the day.
Nice big hole under the driver’s seat.
Big ‘ol’ new piece butt welded in.
A nice new bottom for the inner sill to match.
I’m still plugging away on the 240. The NS quarter repair TIG welded on.
Put the reverse arms on the spot welded and got the lip to the new inner arch done.
Lots of plug welds from the inner tub to the outer tube and it’s one step closer to being a road going vehicle.
