These bits are done in my home built oven, which is an old oven and a metal box welded together works well but I'm having problems with light colours as the fan does blow the powder about inside and it's a real pain to clean.
I knew it'll need a lot of work as it had belly pans fitted and the rot was coming through on most panels the van is now fully completed and took one month to restore.
Jk and heritage sell the same crap, repro rubbish from Europe or brazil don't waste your money, I use auto craft mainly now or AS but with AS you have to check who's panel they send as they also just buy in the cheap crap.
I normally start at the front and work back but never fully weld in a panel before you have check the next one lines up and the whole area around the panel is treated, I normally paint every panel in top coat before welding the next one in.
I have a pair of 9" steel wheels (not idea but meh) which I have blasted and prepped for powder coating and they will be wrapped in some huge MT tyres.
Thats all the fun photos at the moment I still have to move the shell so I can get started on it.
I plan to upgrade the rear...
Ok so after years of watching and wishing I thought I would go ahead and build myself a Drag beetle to race in the VWDRC :clapping:
So I've been busy buying and collecting parts for the last year or so to do this (still missing engine and gearbox tho)
Right to start then the chassis...
And before I painted it I put in a few panels.
And a lot more then I have photos of as well.
Also blasted the gearbox, engine tinware and front beam and painted them jet black.
Another Bus lives !
Might be better off just drilling them then.
My mate who runs a gate company just had to build over 800ft of gates and railings after a lot of thought he just ordered the flat bar pre-punched and then drilled the box sections as needed, it'll take a lot of time tho.
Ok just spoke to the guy he states the vapour is when the machine has shut off, I can try and get a model number but he has only given me 128 PUAS 18.5KW 110 CFM
