Inkscape is free and drawings can be saved as DXF files. It's also dead easy to use, there are plenty of YouTube tutorials to view and learn with....

Can I suggest a Superflex cable? Lightweight, extremely flexible although pricey. A marvellous enhancement to a lightweight WP9.
If they are breaking at the weld (or more accurately just alongside the weld??), could be due to lack of appropriate heat treatment after welding.

I use strips of fireproof blanket to lay on top of the table and surround the workpiece to ensure as much filth as possible gets extracted...

The Xtreme tables have slats with points. I've just knocked up a plasma cut jig to hold replacement plasma cut tips onto the slat for tack welding...

I wouldn’t worry about them falling apart. Once you have assembled the thrust bearing the bronze ring just keeps the balls from clashing.
I think you have hit upon the solution. Use it outside in the rain. Fumes and heat all sorted.
