I don't see how putting nip in a ring main is going to reduce the current capacity of the circuit beyond the nip.

It's really a ring because the last socket is wired back to the first one, a spur or radial is a dead-end at the last socket.

If you can arrange to bring the 2.5mm from the existing sockets to the switch you won't need junction boxes or a spur.
