Hi, I've often thought about buying tools etc from the US, but it seems like any savings made would be negated by the import tax paid on UK arrival.
Someone sent me this though. Anyone uses this or similar?

That is why I couldnt make videos to save my life, and I don't criticise those who do. Because I know that I would be one long shower of uhms, ahhs and hesitations, plus the sound of my droning voice.
Well, to answer my own question, they are owned by Apex Tool Group. They are in good company as it appears Apex also own Cleco, which is a legendary name in Aircraft Engineering tools. They also own Weller soldering gear, Xcelite and Jacobs Chucks.
The Irimo spanners I have are all made in Spain, I bought them 35 years ago though. The Expert stuff we have at work all had "Expert by Facom" written on the packaging. All the rest of the tools at my workplace are Facom. And very good they are too.
Facom do a budget range called Expert, its pretty good. Teng are good too. Also Irimo, I have some of their stuff from when I was an apprentice. Still going strong 30 odd years later.

I think a 4 inch vice is enough for most things. I have a Record and a Swindens, both 4 inch. York vices are pretty good value for money, decent quality and not too much money.
I have TIG welded aluminium parts to repair them after they had been corroded from being in the sea. What I did was to remove all of the corrosion with a flapper disc and stainless steel wire wheel. Then I took out the pits with a small carbide burr in an air die grinder.
I used 4043 filler...
