Today I tried to get the crankshaft pulley off my Honda, made a nice drift out of a 6" long 1/2" drive socket extension... cleanest shear-off i've ever seen!
I suppose it hasn't been off in 18 years, and the torque wrench clicking at 130 lb ft without budging it should have been a clue, before...
With extreme diffficulty, I believe is the reply...
The cheap telescopic gauges respond well to a careful stoning off the burrs on the internals, until one of the bits makes a desperate bid for freedom. :(

I got one of the spans-a-doorframe ones with two threaded halves, rubber "feet" - goes up easily, comes down on your head even more so, propelling you backwards head-first into the wall...

I'm a convert to the solderless breadboards for first-attempt circuits with legged components, quick and easy, no worries about desoldering if you get it wrong, only a few Local Currency Units for a couple of boards and a hatful of jumper wires.

hot air gun on the solder side (or blowlamp if you're a heathen), whack the board over the baking tray... Hey presto, tray full of bits!

Good treatment s 2" rockwool slabs in a 2X1/2 wooden frame with hessian or similar over, absorbs high and mid frequencies and can be put at an angle to break up resonances. Also bookshelves with *assorted* books break up reflections (know there was a reason...)

I just open a command prompt and set a ping running to a well-maintained site like Google or EvilBay (ping -t -w 1 www.whatever.com) the -t runs it until you stop with ctrl-c, -w 1 tells it to wait one second before the next one out whether you got a response or not. When you stop it it'll give...
Some are easier than others... I use Turbocad and it took a while to get the hang of it, but was worth it - and it'll output STL files to run through Slic3r for the 3D printer, good results.
It's mostly point and click, but you can type dimensions, angles etc when accuracy counts.
