Thanks i took the steel down with a grinding disc so it was a quite universal all over it got rid of the blue tinge that the steel had and the pitting.
Then with a worn 40 grit flapper wheel on the gringer I went over that. Its taken out most of the grind marks and polished some areas up to a...
I'm making some rustic steel picture frames from 40mm angle.
It's new steel but has a pitted finish on it.
I want to grind / polish so it has an aged polished look and then was going to wax it to keep it as it is.
What's the easiesr way to get it to a polished look?
Grind it?

Thanks I've ordered a 3/8 female to 6mm connection for the regulator end a new piece of 5mm braided hose.
They all dont get shipped until 8th Jan so no welding over xmas so bit gutted
The welder is the GYS smartmig 162
The connection on the welder is not barbed but a single barb so not a tapered barb which allows different size hose.
It I used the hose supplied with the welder it will fit on the welder but not the regulator as it's a bigger diameter on the regulator...
I give up !
The supplier of the new regulator told me to cut the quick realese off the braided hose and fit directly to the GYS welder but the ID diameter of the braided hose is 6mm and the fitting on the welder is 5.6mm dont think I'd get an air tight seal even with a jubilee clip...
Would it...
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Welding-Gas-Hose-Adaptor-To-4-0mm-Tube/161136941268?var=460324943209
would that work?
All seems a bit messy with multiple connections?
What is the proper way to do it from 3/8 connection on regulator to 5.6mm baynet connection on welder? thanks
Hi yes i found the tube that came with the welder, its black and quite soft and the tube that came with the new regulator is white and quite hard like the water pipe used on a fridge water dispenser.
The soft tube supplied with welder is roughly 5mm ID, and the one supplied with the new...
I recently bought a regulator from ebay before i bought my Hobbyweld 5 9lts gas cylinder and it did not fit the Gas cylinder the regulator had a female gas cylinder connection on it? even though the listing said suitable for argon/co2 mix.
Anyhow I bought another one...
Thanks
Looks like I'm stuffed for over xmas..
Oh well
So anybody like to recomend where to buy the correct one? I've just bought 4mm hose and jubilee clips and the ones I've seen with the correct fitting for my gas bottle are all screw on ones not baynet fitting to fit my hose? Thanks
Hi i have a GYS smartmig 162 and want to try some gas with it, I bought a regulator and it has multi bore connections on it.
But unsure what bore the GYS smartmig is where the hose connects to the welder? Do people use a juiblee clip or just push it on ?
Also any links to ebay would be good...
Many thanks will call in to the agent they are only 10 mins from me.
How long welding would I get from the bottle? Heard roughly a couple of hours
I know if I'm welding most of the time is prepping, grinding etc so if I'm in the garage for a hour 5 mins would be actual welding even though I've...
