Thanks - the transformer is smaller than in my Cebora 190 and my Tec Arc 220 tig. So the quality of the welding is governed ultimately by electronic wizardry on the PCB in conjunction with the transformer. I will check all joints the terminals, clean them and then run fresh 1mm wire through and...
Posted this is the wrong section originally so I have moved it to here.....
Hi
I have a Oerlikon Mig Citoline 2500M which is a great bit of kit except the welding at the higher settings ( it has 12) it seems unstable and almost 'flares' during the welding process. At lower settings it seems fine...
Thanks for the replies - been emailing Les at TecArc and it seems that my machine built in 2010 is only a 400V machine although the label on the machine shows 400V 20amp and 230V 32amp in the supply box. I must have mis-understood the label when I bought the machine or it was a mistake as it...
Thanks guys - I actually have a 3 phase meter which is only tapped with the Red and Yellow lives. Yellow supplies one side of the house and red the other. There are two main fuses for each phase, both supplies use a common neutral. So as long as I take one live from the red phase and the other...
Hi
I have a 400V welder which I only use occasionally and I have brought to my home workshop. As with most so called 3 phase welders it only uses L1 and L2 + Earth as transformers at 400V do not need L3 and L1 and L2 don't need a neutral as being out of phase with each other they act as each...
I have a TecTig 222 AC/DC tig welder which is a dual voltage machine but which is currently set up for 400v 3 phase and I want to know how to set it up for 220V 32A supply that I have in my new workshop. I cannot find the manual and would welcome any advice as to how to do this (and also a copy...
Thanks Mike - My wiring is almost the same as this although the components are laid out slightly differently. A separate rocker switch would be a simple solution - I understand that the condenser was only to smooth the arc at lower voltages for sheet metal work.
Really helpful reply. It is great...
Hi
I am fitting a new 6 position rotary voltage switch on my old Cebora machine. I understand wiring mains to transformer except I don't see how the smoothing condenser is wired into the switch - wires C and 6 which are white in the machine and joined with a cable tie.
Has anyone got experience...
I have two of these machines, a Snap on version and a Cebora- the Snap On is really brilliant and can butt weld 0.6mm and up sheet steel with ease. Smooth and controllable. The Cebora is older and I have yet to use due to a broken tensioner.
Th carried out the separate power supply mod on a SIP I have also - this worked really well except I get a continual wire feed when none of the amp buttons are pressed to select amperage.
Hi
Does anyone know whether the wire feed motor is 12v or 24v for these machines as I am working on upgrading my machine? Also any recommendations re replacement / upgrade wire feed assemblies.
Thanks

Hi
I have the welder above and would like to use one of the two foot pedals I have already with it. Both pedals are 5 wire units - the welder has a 6 pin socket although I suspect only 5 are used, 2 for the switch and 3 for the current control. Does anyone have the pinouts for this machine which...
Hi
Did you ever get the ARO spot welder sorted as I picked up one as with a job lot of arms? I wired it up in a crude way and it welded well although blew a 13 amp fuse so I assume it is 16 or 20 amp. I have yet to understand how the timing works.
Thanks
Tony
Thanks Alec
Both machines do work using the two live phases and not using the neutral. Earth is connected as usual. They easily weld 1 + 1 + 1mm although drawing more than 13 amps They are both rated at KVA 2.6 @50%. Does this mean they should be fused at 16 or 20 amps? Both machines have a...
Hi Alec
It seems that in Italy at one point they had a 4 pin 220 v system which used a variety of four pin plugs. There are no ohm reading between L1 and 'neutral' and L2 and 'neutral'. Earth / ground is sound and is connected to the case offering protection. At no point are L1 and L2 shorting...
