Thanks for all the replies I have a much better understanding of it now I think basically a weld without penetration is whats being produced I guess not much different to spot welding with a mig

I think all my welds are probably sub standard compared to a skilled welder but I get by and I’m getting better like all these things practice makes perfect we’ve all got to start somewhere

I understand all the anti decanters and the implications of getting it wrong just it was a way of life years ago we all decanted into smaller bottles for potability not saving money guess elf and safety makes anything dangerous these days

Hi all I get my small air products bottle filled by a friend with argon but need a slightly larger bottle I have an old boc bottle but he cant fill this it just pressurizes the filling hose is there a one way valve in the valve on boc bottles

No offence always sticking my screwdriver somewhere its not supposed to be

So would I never been a great fan of elf and safety just common sense

Ive got an argon mix bottle it has an upright boc valve when i connect my regulator it doesnt show anything on the gauge or flow but there is I guess a safety device in the valve if you remove the regulator and press it down with a screwdriver there is definitely gas in the bottle

its still holding pressure even now so couldnt agree more
