We have a problem in work with some stainless steel fixtures and fittings rusting, its definitely rust, it looks like rust, its eating into the stainless and its doing it fast.1
I work in a hotel leisure club, gym, swimming pool etc. The stainless steel railings around the jacuzzi, and the stainless steel bins have started rusting just this last month. It seemed to start happening soon after we had some building work done to repair underground pipes to the jacuzzi from the plant room.
We have scoured the railings and bins with a few different cleaners (the cleaners normally use stuff called brial cleaner which is multi purpose glass and surface cleaner), but within 36 hours its orange rusty and needs doing again.
its been suggested that the poolside air might be the cause, but these fittings have been there for 20+ years and only just started rusting.
is there anything we can treat it with to re-activate the stainless coating? or is it just at the end of its life and need replacing?
