I bought this recently to have a go at tig and I'm struggling with it.
It switches on. It powers up. The fan whirrs away. Pressing the torch button produces a click from a relay or contactor and gas flows, but I cannot get it to strike an arc. Releasing the button and there's a delay - adjustable with the slope down and post gas dials and it clicks again and gas stops.
I have it switched to tig and torch not pedal. I have the earth in the positive socket - though I've tried it in the negative one too - there's continuity with a meter between the workpiece and the machine end of the earth lead. There appears to be no voltage between the tungsten tip and the earth lead when pressing the torch button.
I'd appreciate any advice on checking for what's up with it. I'm assured it was working when despatched. It wasn't expensive, but it's expensive - but asoundingly effective - for a paperweight.
