I've got to try to make some new rubber gearbox mounts for my 1940s car and whilst I have an original to copy, there are no decent ones surviving. The material I seem to find recommended for the purpose is a polyurethane rubber with shore hardness of A60 and this is not too hard to locate but there seem to be several variations available. I've phoned a company called MBFG but they couldn't advise which of their products would be best for the job so I was hoping that someone with experience of making mounts could offer some advice. I've Googled the subject but nobody gives a specific UK product as being the best material to use.
This are the ones I'm thinking might be suitable candidates...

The mount is about the size of a clenched fist so I'd guess about 1kg should make 3 or 4.
Has anyone here made any from scratch? If so, do you have any tips or recommendations? Grit blasting before pouring etc?
Thanks
Rob
