Hello All,
As somebody completely new to this, I have a question about the current, voltage and electrical safety.
I have been welding bits of scrap together and making reasonable progress (though when I tried on some thinner tin I managed to blow quite a few holes ).
Anyway, once I have overcome the holes, I will be moving onto something more serious.
My question is how much voltage goes through the welding circuit? I know that this varies depending on the voltage setting etc, but what is the typical minimum?
Also, what is the risk of getting shocked if I make contact with the object being welded? For example, I am going to be welding some panels to the inner sills of a car, and it would be much easier if I could just sit on the floor of the car (it is stripped out completely) and do the welding. My understanding is that as long as I don't touch the welding tip at the same time as touching the grounded area (and provide an easier route for the current), then all should be ok. Is this the case?
Thanks, AC
