Righty after battling with DraftSight CAD software I got as far as the the picture below: (the colouring in done by MS Paint
The picture on the left is the original Harvey.
My plan is to buy a wider axle rated at 1500-1800kg with auto reverse brakes.(Ifor axle)
The red parts on the new one is box section that will be opened up on the top to take the original U channel, the U channel slotted in and the weld the new box section to the old U channel on both sides.
The current U channel is about 5mm thick, and the proposed box section will be at least 5mm thick and run the full length and form the base section.
Off this are the spring turrets, shown in green. These will be 100mmx50mmx5mm thick same as the original.
The purple bits will be 5mm plate welded between the new uprights and old uprights to brace the axle.
Orange being the axle and black being the wheels.
Initially I plan on slotting the new box section and the U channel into place and then bolting up to test before welding.
The other bits to sort are the uprights off the axle for the springs to sit on, the axle drop straps (the current ones are U sections of metal bolted in place.
hope this has been explained OK!
