OK, I will sand back and try another coat of clear, any suggestions on what grit to use before the clear?
Wet or dry, DA or block?

and invest in a spray suit. Don't tac off between metallic base or top coats. Ever.
As above, A) you move the metallic particles about and leave trails in base coats, and B)if you do the direct gloss/clear top coats properly, they should be done wet on wet so a tack rag will mar the wet surface. If you leave the previous coat to go dry enough to tac off you are prone to inter coat adhesion issues.
I sanded the clear coat and finished with 2000 grit, the specks of dust all disappeared.
So I used my rotary polisher I picked up at a car boot sale for £10 and some G3, the gloss came back up perfectly.
Close up no sign of the dust.
The bad news is that I did this with the DA sander, what a PITA!
I will try to put on a bit of base coat and clear the lot again.
OK Take 2.
Built a tent.
Keep an eye on Aldi for when they sell their tarpaulins again, these are cheap and ideal for making a makeshift spray booth.
They have one large one or two small ones at the same price as the large which if I remember? is £7.95?.
