that's what I wondered, had visions of the operator wearing a hazmat suit and all sorts.So why is it called atomic Hydrogen welding?
Because Hydrogen normally exists as a molecule H2 (2 atoms stuck together). The heat of the electric arc splits these molecules into 2 atoms of hydrogen. This releases a load of energy (heat). The resulting "flame" is hotter than any other (I think, but if not Im sure someone will correct me on that)
