Hi ,
I am planning to build a fixed gantry style crane for use outside the workshop for the loading unloading of steel etc.
I have attached a drawing of what it would look like installed.
The main question is what size beam to specify for the main beam at the top, also the size and depth of concrete foundations?
The Crane to be fitted is a stahl 3 phase unit with powered left to right movement with a capacity of 1250 kgs . crane weight is approx. 85kgs
For the top beam @ 6 mtrs long we was thinking of a UC 203x203 52kg. We would like to keep that size if possible as it fits the upright where it is to be bolted.
The upright beam is a large 457x191x74kg UB its free from a recent order that went wrong measurement wise from the architects drawings !
Can anyone help with the calculation for the cross beam using a UC 203x203 and depth/width of foundations needed?
Andrew
