Hi I have just posted this elswhere on here and wondered what others think about schools nowadays ?
My Nephew is not the only one in his school who is interested, there are other lads that are being deprived of the education they want and crave
The reason that the engineering had been stopped was that the ONE teacher that took engineering's other subject was cookery and he was told that was far more important a subject and he was to do that instead !!!
What an awesome time.. im 25 and was born in the wrong generation.. I bet these cars were made in plant with 4000 lathes in a room and to get to have a go you had to show some interest or your dad worked there. Fantastic
A bit of an exaduration it was 3950 lathes and 50 milling machines.
But in them days schools had 'proper' metalwork workshop classrooms with teachers that had an idea HOW to use them and some could even weld!
My nephew came to complain to me that engineering had been stopped in his school, and he would have to take needle work instead, not being sexist but how is that going to interest a lad that is obsessed with making things and cars, now he has to come to me to learn how to fix things and swear properly
