Hi everyone,
I'm hoping to start to learn TIG next year, having just bought myself an R-TECH AC/DC 161 machine. Ive been loitering on the forum for a while so thought I better introduce myself!
I have limited experience with MIG from repairing various cars I have had in the past with 90/120 amp hobby machines. I am planning to build a single seater race car in the future which is mainly 18/20g (mm?) box section so there will be a fait bit of fillet welding.
I know MIG will be a lot faster, but the frame isn't very complex and there are a few aluminium components (coolant/fuel tanks etc) that i would like to make so I have opted for the AC/DC TIG.
I am only at the planning stage and building wont commence for a year or too yet, so I plan on practising laying beads and various autogenous welds for a while and maybe enrolling on a course late next year if I feel the need to.
Right, on with the question!
The welder I have bought came with a foot pedal, TIG26 (WP?) torch and a limited starter pack with a few gas cups, collets/bodies and some different sizes of tungsten.
Can any body recommend a list of bits + pieces I need get to start laying some beads. I have a auto helmet already but couple do with knowing which gloves, tungstens, filler rods and torch parts to get.
Also, can anyone explain about a gas lens and is it advisable for me to get one?
Thanks
Shaun
