That's for internal threads - Mike was referring to cutting external threads. What Hotrodder said was bang on too - the pitch makes a difference because greater pitch = greater thread depth.
You should read what people have said instead of automatically contradicting what they haven't.
Pete beg to differ if you have an lets say an 4 start thread , the nut will now travel 4 times the distance with 1 360 degree turn of the nut, but the pitch alters, it is now 4 times smaller , but the thread depth will remain the same, so your theory of pitch depth does not alter, and i was,nt contradicting i was giving my opinion, i thought that was ok. !!
