Hi,
I have recently bought some oilite bearings for my suspension and have found it very hard to find/contact the manufacturers of these. I have only managed to contact the suppliers and they dont have the technical information i need.
I have been told not to use any grease to lubricate them at all and have also been told it's ok to use marine grease over them. So im getting conflicting information.
What i have been told is oilite bearings needs its pores open so the oil can seep out under too much friction and lubricate the area, ive been told grease would block these pores. I would have thought if there was a good amount of friction then the oil would still seep out no matter if the grease was there.
I dont want them to end up getting stiction in time and i want to protect the shaft from any water ingress that may get inside the beam. So there is more than one reason for wanting to use some sort of grease.
The grade of these are > MB 01/2 grade ISO number ISOP40112 BS number BS56005. I was told this by the place that i bought them from and fitted them. EB Bright is the company that supplied them to the place that fitted them for me.
Does anyone have any information data about these bearings with links if possible ? I would also like to know which type of grease is ok to use on the bearings, if at all ?
Thank-you.
