If the purchases you mention were in decent condition you have been super lucky at those prices.
Earlier in the year I was doing some serious searching locally and online and anything decent regardless of age was £250+ for the likes of Atlas etc, Myfords as you rightly state were £400 up to silly money.
There was the occasional cheapie that had been dug out of the back of a damp garage but rebuild and sorting would have ended up costing more than the machine itself.
It's a patience and percentages game to find the bargains. Might take a year or two, but there seems to be occasional times and/or places where an absolute gem will go for practically nowt.
On the Myford point, I've never been able to understand why people have such a desire to throw money at the Myford's, especially when something exactly the same, similar or better can be had for less or the same. The most ironic one, in my opinion, is the M type. People will merrily spend more for the Myford than the Drummond. It appears to be a name thing.
